My dad was the second person to paddle down the Columbia River from Canal Flats, BC to Astoria, OR. The first guy did it in a rubber raft and my dad did it in a canoe during spring run off. My dad also went up to the head waters of all the major rivers that feed into the Columbia River. He was the first to concur those rivers. There is some information available on the internet but it's not easy to find. My dad Alex Laird did this adventure back in the early to mid 60's when the river was still wild. That's a really cool adventure you two did and the food looked great. Well done!
@maximbudnick2 жыл бұрын
Wow sounds like your dad went on an incredible adventure. Thanks for the story!
@robertlaird67462 жыл бұрын
@@maximbudnick He did go on an incredible adventure. I thought I'd share it with you because you took an incredible adventure yourself even though it was only two days. My dads trip took all summer. His money ran out so he ate beans and rice as well as some fish but he lost his fishing pole going over a waterfall early on in his trip so he had to take his knife and attach it to a stick to spear his fish. He was smart and left just enough gas money in his van that he left in Canal Flats to get home and ran out of food on the way. That was his moment in life where he says was his highlight because it was so wild and fun.
