For Christmas, I buy a nice roll of reversible paper from Costco. It’s about $10 and lasts me about two years. I buy two colors of curly ribbon to match, and sometimes a bag of bows. My husband and I have no kids, so I wrap everything for him and his family in one pattern, and everything for me and my family gets wrapped in the other pattern. It also makes it very easy to make sure we have all of that families presents when we go to their homes to celebrate.

We that made me feel better when you said you have been decluttering for 7 years. I’ve been seriously working at it for 6 years well almost 7 although I’ve always decluttered but not this serious. Played the minimalism game in February that was hard but I did it. I’m I think people thinks it’s one and done but it’s not. Daily decluttering is important, thanks for the inspiration. I’m getting down to the hard stuff now, sentimental items, keepsakes, photos, memorabilia & paper work. Ugggh! 👍💜👍💜👍💜👍💜👍💜

Yes, it's definitely an ongoing journey. Tastes change over time, and your lifestyle changes. You grow out of certain things and into others. Your circumstances change. Things outgrow their usefulness, and new things are needed or desired along the way. To say that it's "one and done" would be to say that life is static. Keep up the great work! I'm right there with you. 💖

The amount of time and energy you devote to having a yard/garage sale is never offset by the money you make--and you always wind up with stuff that doesn't sell, which you then decide to donate. Donate everything to begin with and be done with it.

Batteries ..this was the first place I started my decluttering journey. I bought a cheap battery tester on ebay and made a huge dent in the junk drawer!! Cables...I've found a sky cable and tv aerial extention ..I've been stream only for 2.5 years now!! Why 😆 Selling stuff box ... I've mainly donated, especially when lockdown was finally over, I had bulky items like pram, first baby car seat and baby bath I was desperate to get out of my house! I wait for a ebay promo day with reduced fvf and bulk list. I found clothes was pointless to sell but made alot of toys. But the mental load relief when the area that was filled with stuff you detach from and then resent for still hanging about ..finally goes is the best feeling in the whole decluttering exercise. I love the idea that this item that has had no use and purpose will be someone's bargain or joy, it makes those items you think worthy of selling easier to get rid off.

My house calls it remote or remote control. My grandfather (98) calls it "the clicker" haha! Also for me the "stuff you decided to sell". Funny story: I had bags of stuff lined up for donation in 2019 and I wanted to get it out in 2020 but that never happened, of course....I had nearly double it when I got rid of that and more this past summer!! Huge weight lifted!

Great advice!!! My tips -buy a battery tester/ caddy ( under $20) life changing!!! - small container / boxes ( I am always reorganizing so I like to have options ( I have one box to store it all … anything else I have to discard) - once you buy a replacement (discard the old item no later then a month) - any purchases must be opened and homes immediately ( after one month if not used it must be returned ) - when decluttering anything get rid of all the pieces including the cords)

I don’t buy wrapping paper anymore. We save and reuse gift bags within the family (Christmas, bdays). It’s easier to throw in stuff than to wrap it up, and anyways, the present is only staying in them 20 minutes or so. Come next year, who can remember if we see the same pattern under the Xmas tree as the year before😎😂 Saves a lot of energy to have a limited bagful on them at home, in case we give presents!

Honestly the decluttering journey is a lifelong one. Nowadays 80% of everything I declutter has to do with my kids. 10% is stuff that breaks or gets worn out and gadgets/accessories that belong to those things. The rest is things that up to that point have had a practical use but now isn’t needed anymore, things my husband brings home and then doesn’t use and sometimes things that I’ve outgrown emotionally and don’t want anymore. Every now and then an impulse buy sneaks its way in too and gets decluttered later but that’s very rare. It’s a good thing decluttering’s always very satisfying 😆 I don’t mind it being a chronic process.

He then had half a carrier bag of IKEA Allen keys, screws, nails and other things from IKEA. And about two weeks ago there was a box lying on the floor in the top landing, what's this, I say? Oh it's wires to go out says the son. Both of them went through it and it went for recycling. I'm heading to the charity shop tomorrow to drop off two carrier bags of a mishmash of items. And yes I've got my a few things put aside for sale but have still to do anything about them... 🤷🏻‍♀️

We've only got one remote, though admittedly for an led - lamp thingy that we never really use. Since we decluttered the TV and video player i don't think we've ever had anything else to go with a remote control ...? Admittedly not living in the USA. ;) We put paint-rests in small glass jars, and I occasionally just restore those little scratches etc that seem to happen to painted walls. This way (1) the paint does not dry out as fast (as it would do in its huge, nearly empty container) (2) the pain gets used up over time and (3) the walls do look good for longer, without having to repaint everything. Sigh. I always seem to think that I get out of this easily, because I don't have one of the first items you mention, but well... cables and keys. Yes. (single socks I just pair up with other solos. as long as the fabric and length is similar that's enough for me. yes, colourful socks as well.)

Pour leftover paint into appropriate sized jar and stick a label on it, for ex., "bathroom wall". It's nice to have the possibility to moke touch-ups when you're not ready yet to paint the whole wall. In time paint gets a film on the top, so you just remove it, stir, and you have the right color paint for no additional cost :) In an airtight jar paint can be ok for a couple of years (longer, than in original half empty container), and takes less space.

I always want to sell my items especially when I moved here to Florida and got rid of 75% of my possessions but it just was not worth the hassle when people ask you 10 questions and want to give you 3 to 5 dollars for an item you paid a lot more for. I now list my donations on Facebook market under the title “Curb Alert” and put everything on the curb. I let everyone take whatever they want… I don’t have to pack anything really nicely and I don’t have to drive anywhere and items are gone by the end of the afternoon. I got rid of so much make-up, clothes, shoes, handbags and furniture this way and I love that there is no effort on my part to deal with heavy items.

Oh, use the forgotten birthday card from her 5.birthday on her 15.Birthday ;-)....you can make it! And then telling her the story about her birthday-card will be great! I guess that would be a fine thing. :)

With Allen keys, I tape them to the object if possible in case I need to tighten screws. I did a nightstand and taped the key inside the drawer 😀 I call the remote the clicker (I’m not 98) 🤣

New subscriber here! I love your videos but if I could offer a suggestion/ask a question: why is it your videos have frequent reminders of your channel name and asking to subscribe? Maybe it’s just me, but I find it distracting!

Electrical recycling centre. Or if it's for something that someone might want (eg. iPhone charger), your local charity shop might take it. Just check with them first.
