i actually did find this on my Volvo by coincidence. If the front seat is down like this, you can transport things up to a length of 2,40m. This car is amazing, i love my V70 2002 so much.

These are such good, long lasting cars. And the one thing that CAN kill these cars (a leaking heater core) is fairly easy to replace, left hand drive or right hand drive. These cars strike the perfect balance of all of these things: 1) cheap to buy 2) very long lasting if cared for 3) much safer than other cars of same age 4) very practical load lugger.

Hi Dave, Thanks for your comment! All very good points. I love these cars too. You are right about the heater core being very important and relatively easy to replace. I think a lot of people tend to ignore the low coolant light thinking its just a problem with the float sensor in the expansion tank. Big mistake! What they don’t realize is the coolant temperature sensor is so high in the engine that it doesn’t give an accurate reading when coolant is low. Then the engine overheats causing big problems!

@@fiveable Yes , my v70 Is now able to accommodate a double size inflatable mattress , I'm ordering the window blackout suckered, insulation window panels for all my windows .. my v70 will then be a perfect ,stealth micro camper . This has saved me upwards of £10,000 as I was gonna buy a micro camper .😎👍
@fiveable
@fiveable Жыл бұрын
@@davidjacobs828 That's great! Did you flip the driver's side seat forward to make room for the mattress? I think v70 wagons ( I think they are called estates in the UK ) would make great micro campers! Volvo got it right when they named it with a V for versatility. Unfortunately my v70 is parked with a bad transmission. I really miss driving that car. By the way, I wasn't sure if anyone would find the seat flip video helpful. Comments like yours make me glad I posted it!

I think gen3 started in 2007. Unfortunately I don’t have access to a gen3 to take a look. I was able to get a friend see if her 2003 xc70 wagon has the same front seat latches. It does.

I didn't know about this! And I just found out it also works on my 2004 V70 with power passenger seat, with just a slight variation on removing the lower rear cushions from their bright-red lock clips. I was surprised how heavy they are, so now I"ll have the mental illusion of improved MPG (but will still be wondering about the mindlessly erratic fuel gauge).

Nice! I didn’t know the trick also works on the 2004 v70s. I have a friend who owns a 2004. I’ll be sure to pass the info along! Thanks for commenting!

You can remove the headrest with one move, there are two bumps in the backrest, pinch them and push up, headrest pulls out.
@fiveable

Maybe that’s on a seat from a different year or model. Can’t find any “bumps” on my 2000 v70 seats. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks! I have a p80 but most of this video helps! Quick question, your rear wheel arch, just before it you have residue from something sticky, what was it? I have the exact same patch of brown used stickiness and I cannot get it off 😅
@fiveable
@fiveable Жыл бұрын
Yes, mine has what used to be thick clear stickers on the rear wheel arches toward the front. Pretty sure they were put there to help prevent chips. The stickers are discolored and look pretty bad now. I never removed them because it looked like it will be a pain to get all the residue off. Unfortunately the car is parked with a bad transmission now. I really miss driving my V70!
