I didn't see a link for google review. I purchased a brown turkey and white Marseilles a year ago. They were frozen solid when I got them last April in Ohio. Travis sent me 2 more as soon as I reached out to the support email. Those 2 trees are now in 13 gallon pots and I just picked my first white Marseilles breba fig. Couldnt be happier, thanks for all the advice!

Today is my 1year anniversary in the south. Im about 15-20 south of you. Thank you for this, because i planted about 40 different fruit trees last may/june. I didnt know about the rust, then second harvest. Ill look forward to that, and not freak out when rust appears. 😂

Review left! I’m super excited to get figs this year. I planted one of my fig trees from you in front of my chicken run hoping it would provide a little shade during the hottest part of the day. That tree sure is loving the fertilizer running out of the chicken run! It is gorgeous.

This also works with Blackberry canes ( Prime Ark Freedom is my preferred choice ) and I have so many Blackberries that the Mocking birds are no longer a hassle , I have more than I need , my Oldest Grandson a Blackberry fanatic can no longer keep up with the production so I have resorted to giving them away to Family and friends and these berries are 2 inch long !

Travis, thank you for the video I live in Panama City Florida and I learned from an old farmer how to take care of my fig trees like you I do a heavy pruning every winter and then in mid January I’ll put cow manure well rotted, cow, manure, and wood Ash with some char in it, not too much And I’ll tell you what those figs love it. I don’t have to do it again the rest of the year and they put on so much new growth and stay deep green all summer. I also have less problems with rust so I don’t have to spray liquid cop hardly at all. I do keep a burn pile that I only allow wood to go into it. try that on one or two of your figs and see if you like that idea. It certainly is a lot cheaper and healthier for the plant and soil. And yes, during the summer I usually have to water heavily three times a week because of my sandy soil as well . 5/24 my figs are absolutely loaded already. Even my late season figs are starting to put on but my brown turkeys are absolutely covered in figs this year and persimmon are going to have a good year this year.

Have you tried to pinch off the top of the figs? I hear some people do it to either synch their fig trees for harvests or get two harvests in the south due to our longer growing season? I pinch one of mine and they started growing figs within 7 days! I'm not sure if you have mentioned this before but it worked for me. BTW, I recieved my order LSU Tiger, from you and thank you so much for the best looking fig tree. It arrived in perfect condition very, very well packaged!! I puut mine in the greenhousevfor now. It is doing very, very well! It has grown about 4 inches. I have just been watering it daily with my drip in the greenhouse and added a bit of 10-10-10 granular in its new pot I transplanted it into. Thank you so much!

I ordered an Improved Celeste on February 14, 2024, received it on March 28, and planted it on March 31 in zone 9b. It stood 11" (28 cm) tall. Today, May 6, it stands 18" (45.7 cm) tall, but when suckers appeared after a couple weeks I allowed them to remain, so it essentially has five trunks now. At the time of planting, I mixed 3-4-4 organic general purpose fertilizer directly into the soil, and top-dressed with 10-2-8 organic fruit orchard fertilizer before adding cypress mulch. The prepared soil was 1/3 native sandy/clay soil, 1/3 compost (2 cu ft), 1/3 commercial top soil (2 cu ft). It's watered every other day with 2 gallons (7.57 L).

No figs on my rapidly growing brown turkey tree so far this year. I can`t believe how bushy it is after pruning by me and freezes. I planted 5 more this year including 4 celeste. Looks like I`m gonna have a LOT of trimmings to plant from the brown turkey tree! I`ve never had one or seen one here in Louisiana as far as I know.

I haven't pruned mine but they die back to the ground every year. However I've been putting the water and fertilizer to them and they've grown more already this year than they do in a full year previously. Mine are all only a few years old but you'd never know by the amount they die back every winter. You'd think I just got them

Good evening Travis an lazy dog fam. I have to ask Trav. If u were putting down upto 5-6lbs of organic fertilizer per tree, ain't your dog jus doing her best to go an root up an gorge herself on that coop gro? I have to be careful with jus a few lbs on my property of organic fertilizer. Gotta fence around those beds an its a challenge. Dogs , opossum, raccoon, they all love that stuff. How'd u fair with critters an pets with all that coop-gro out there? Thanks for doing what u do Trav. Its most entertaining an informative.

I'm thinking about that mystery fig I've mentioned to you before and the more I've seen your cultivars and saw the figs from the LSU purple I think that might be what I have growing in a pot and in ground. I had a large brown turkey but my son didn't like where I planted it about 9 yrs ago and he hacked it down and dug up the roots 😕 needless to say he doesn't care for figs. I can now keep this one in a pot and out of the way of his lawn mower.

I want to get a few trees to replace the celestial that died this winter I was hoping it would come back be it didn’t and I didn’t see the video about winterizing the tree until it had already frozen last year but unfortunately I didn’t have the money to be Johnny on the spot so I can’t replace it now. I am happy the you are selling your trees fast but it is not good for me because by the time I can buy the trees I want they are gone. Thanks for the awesome content one day the money and the trees will be there at the same time

I'll admit that I'm getting good use out of those flimsy tree pots. I put 12 in a square milk crate and that holds them up and keeps them "square". They really won't stand up by themselves though.

@@JuliePascal Yeah, I waved good bye as they went to a nearby landfill. They also smell like maybe the material is leaching into the soil and trees. Some kind of off petroleum smell. I even doubled up and they were terrible. Some of the things coming out of China are horrible knock-offs. Good luck on your trees.

I planted some stick cuttings from eBay. The ones I planted sideways, not scored, in a wide, shallow ceramic (with slip on the sides... Will have to go out and look at bottom, can't just now recall if slip on bottom...) with no drainage holes, just keeping moist and sometimes covered with plastic wrap in a slightly dry blend of 1:1 potting mix and garden soil are the ones that have gone crazy. Took a while... We doubted but they are currently glorious. The upright ones never did anything, so I have done them like the other sideways ones. I presoaked the cuttings in water about 10 minutes, too. Those are my tips as someone new at it. Good luck! P. S. I may have thrown a little coarse sand into the mix, don't recall and don't think it would necessarily make a difference.

My son-in-law received 2 LSU Golds from you a short while back. He gave me one of them. I was going to up-pot mine earlier this week. I picked it up and was stung by several fire ants. I sprayed the soil on top with ant spray and left it alone until the next day. I didn’t see any ants on top so I took the tree out of the shipping container and there were ants all through the soil. I sprayed all sides and sealed the soil in a gallon freezer bag and left it overnight. The next day the ants were still there and very much alive. The only thing I could do was remove all the soil from the roots and replant the tree. Do you think it will live? I have kept it watered but the leaves have wilted.
@LazyDogFarm
@LazyDogFarm 10 күн бұрын
The ants won't hurt the tree. I wouldn't have removed all the soil from the tree, but can't undo that now. Just keep watering it and it will hopefully recover.
