In this video I show you how to maximize your Browsers Privacy and Security with no browser extensions by going into about:config and changing the settings for better privacy and security. The Settings I use in this video are as follows

Enable fingerprint resistance: With this alone we pretty much negate the need for canvas defender, or any other fingerprint blocking addon.

I'd appreciate your opinion as I'm stuck on making a tough decision. I'm looking for an optimal web browser set up for maximum online privacy. I'm debating which of these 3 options is best. The first option is using 4 different web browsers, 1 for each (email, banking, shopping and general web browsing). Option 2 is using Firefox exclusively and having 4 different user profiles set up. Option 3 is to use just 1 Firefox user profile and create "containers". I love firefox and really prefer option 3 best then option 2 because it would be great using 1 browser. However, I'm thinking it will not offer the most security against fingerprinting and tracking. I'm new to all this and would greatly appreciate your suggestions!

if you are experiencing problems with firefox always opening in windowed mode then unfortunately you'll have to revert resistfingerprinting back to false privacy.resistfingerprinting = false this will also open youtube back in dark theme if you have dark theme enabled on Windows 10 edit: if you find it annoying to click on an "image" before you can view it, then you'll have to turn one of the cache back to true. browser.cache.disk.enable = true

Late but Firefox isn't a company, it's a nonprofit that is literally legally unable to make money off of you. The reason these are turned off by default is because a lot of websites will break or behave weirdly with them off. Most websites on the internet are essentially made for the purpose of making things as easy as possible for you and so if you activate all of these you'll have to do a tiny bit of extra legwork. But that legwork also saves you from having a million companies trying to constantly serve you targeted ads (the purpose of collecting your data). The targeted ads don't really hurt you at all or anything, they're just kind of creepy. Some are also turned off because they're older versions of security protocols that could be a legitimate security problems, but not all websites will be updated to the absolute latest and greatest because they might be run by a guy in his basement. You won't be able to visit those websites with this setting but most people probably won't notice. The old protocols are just there so you won't have any sudden losses of connection.

I'm pretty sure webgl can't do that, I believe you're getting confused with the navigator api which is often used with webrtc. People mix up the two quite often. I've used webgl for a couple years to make 3d renderers and the reason it's an issue is because of all the system info webgl can gather about you like: max supported vertex attributes and varyings, max res and number of textures, viewport resolution, glsl precision, supported extensions, etc... Long story short, there's at least 20 variables that can be used to track you that I know of in webgl 1.0 (what I'm familiar with), but webgl 2.0 (the modern version of webgl) has even more features and likely has even more ways to fingerprint you.

I thought you privacy wierdos where just wired lol I knew they collected data but not alot. And thought you guys where exaggerating until I found out you can download your Google data and I looked and they had almost 2tb of data from me all the way back from 2010 I believe. From locations to photos, to what kind of vehicle I was in. And I was blown away and now I'm with the wierdo group 😂. And with chrome or any Google products it doesn't matter what you install. I spent the whole weekend reading and organizing there terms and service and you won't believe the stuff I seen. Even if a add on or setting from third party. That doesn't apply to Google at all.. I think he did in some parts. The "2020 Guide to Hardening Firefox" by Switched to Linux's video description has one or two parts that looks like MO just copypasted some of the STL description and made minor adjustments or they both copypasted from the same or similar source. To be fair though I think MO added a fair bit to make it his own such as additional things to enable or disable so it's not too huge of a deal.

@Zacman X cookies does more than just that i work with web dev and some sites can indeed be just what you said bot others are gonna do the worse thing and track you, like google i remember using a program that intercepts traffic to analyze how sites react to the http data you send and i remember seeing an extra google data on chromium browsers. thats an example of it. i dont hate cookies, its just that they can be misused

@Zacman X well the ip issue can be avoided with ip and dns proxychans but cookies can be used to get that kind of data you just mentioned and even tho they have other methods to it, they usually wont really make an investigation till they trace you unless they have a really good reason to do so, besides security/privacy are about layers: the more you have, the better. its never impenetrable but still you can make it harder for them to get to you

Nooby question, but how can I do exactly this on google chrome? I know already that if I want to be really anonymous, I should definitely not use chrome and use Firefox or Tor instead.
