you have great videos my friend. I currently have a Chase Slate which I got for balance transfers and consolidating my credit. Once I fix my credit to be excellent again, I'd like to plan out my card strategy as you said. Since I travel a lot for my channel, I'm definitely looking for a card that will have points and 0 foreign transaction fees. Some of the features you mentioned in this video interest me! thanks again!

The pass you get do you have to pay for the lounge ? For you and a guess
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 5 жыл бұрын
No, the Priority Pass membership included with the Sapphire Reserve covers you and up to two guests for free. You can also use it for restaurant credits at certain airports for you and 1-2 guests (depending on the restaurant). The membership used to allow more guests, but I think people were abusing it, so they've now limited it to only one guest. 😊

Those 2 Perks are amazing for others as your self :D But the Perks that make no Sense are.. 1. $100 TSA Pre/Entry & 2. $300 Travel Credit! If you Dont have a annual Fee of $450 ..Compared to CSP $99.. thats $350 Difference Thats a $350 Travel Credit Every Year!! HAHA as for TSA Pre & All that Thats every 4 Years & I Myself pay that out of pocket on my time not theirs LOL.. & Not Every Year..

Hey! Great video with a lot of helpful information. I have recently started travelling alot more for work and almost exclusively fly united. Unfortunately due to a company card/policy, i cant really book flights and hotels on a personal card. I was thinking of getting one of the United cards for my daily purchases just to rack up the miles but was unable to find any information about whether or not i can use the priority pass perks and unlimited lounge access that comes with the high tier united cards if i dont purchase my ticket using that card. Cause if that was possible, it would make sense to do that instead of purchasing a United Club membership and use the card for monthly expenses as well to get the points or just purchase a sapphire card for over all points. help
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 5 жыл бұрын
I don't think you have to purchase your tickets with a United credit card in order to get the benefits associated with the cards (at least that's the case with my United Explorer card). As long as your United # is used during the booking, the benefits should kick in. That being said though, you might still want to consider an Ultimate Rewards points earning card set-up instead since you'll likely be able to earn more points with the bonus categories. You can then transfer them to different travel partners (including United). 😎
@RiteshSingh1993
@RiteshSingh1993 5 жыл бұрын
Trip Astute thank you for that information. I was planning on getting that Mileage a club Card since the benefits of United Lounge as well as the Presidentsl Circle at Hertz is very useful since I book through Hertz all the time. But yeah, my main concern is basically that I just need to own the card and link my accounts to be able to receive the benefits of the card even though I am not purchasing United tickets with it.

Hi there, I have a question I’ve not seen the answer to on the internet (at all). Assume my $300 travel credit is met and I’m in the first 3 months. I pay for a $4k trip to meet the bonus points. Do I: 1. Only get the 50k bonus Or 2. Get the 50k bonus plus 3x$4k for travel purchases = total 62,000 pts ??

Good review but show me the money. Just how much will I save with the CSP card?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 6 жыл бұрын
It's a tough question to answer. I'm thinking of doing a video on it in the future. For me, the Reserve card is a better value proposition. Though that may not be the case for a lot of people. I tend to spend a lot on dining out and parking (which is coded as travel) and use the free lounge access, which is why I keep the Reserve card. Though if I wasn't spending as much in those categories and using the lounge access, I would most likely downgrade to the Preferred card.

Can you use the $300 travel credit for the purchase of gas?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 5 жыл бұрын
I wish! Chase's definition of what counts as travel is pretty wide, but unfortunately, gas isn't one of them. Though parking lots and meters usually qualify. It is one thing that I wish was included in a regular bonus category. 🤓

Let's say i have the CSP and I get the 50k signup bonus. The following year or several months after joining, i upgrade to the CSR. Would I be redeedming the UR Points based on the CSP or CSR???
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 6 жыл бұрын
You should be able to redeem the UR points based on the higher rate card (e.g., CSR). For example, I earn points on my Freedom and Ink cards, then transfer them over to my CSR UR account so I can redeem them at the higher redemption rate. 🤓

Unfortunately, it's not possible. Chase UR point transfers are generally one-way out (i.e., you can't transfer points points in unless it's from another Chase UR-earning card or household member).

Hi! I loved the video! I’m a new subscriber! Quick question? I have a 730 credit score with an average age of accounts of 1.4 years. BUT I only make $30K a year. Do I need to have a high income to be accepted automatically for the Chase Sapphire Reserve? I’ve heard around Amex Platinum “requires” approximately $80K Income, is it the same with this card?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bryan! Income requirement can be a tricky one to assess. I still think that credit score and history are the biggest factors, but the issuer will ask for stated income, which can be interpreted in different ways. I know some people who include their investments in that figure, while others stick to their annual pay. Based on what I have read, it looks like income does factor into the equation, with some folks recommending a higher approval odds in the $50K+ range. Again, it's not an exact science, but the issuers generally try to assess a risk profile on each applicant. Given that you have a 1.4 years average age for your accounts, I would probably wait on the CSR, and maybe pursue the CSP instead. There's definitely no rush ... and with all the rumored changes coming to Chase, it might be a safer option to pursue. Hope that's helpful! Let us know if you have any other questions. 😊

Can I apply for a Chase Sapphire card even if I don't have NO account with them ?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it should still be possible. You don't necessarily need a previous or current account with them. You just need to have a good credit score and history. If you're not sure whether you qualify, you may want to check your score on Credit Karma and Credit Sesame to see where you land and what cards they recommend (in terms of your eligibility).

Are you sure Chase's 5/24 rule only applies to credit accounts and not overall accounts?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 7 жыл бұрын
To my knowledge, it only applies to credit accounts. However, there does seem to be some subjectivity with the formula (e.g., some small business or co-branded credit cards seem to be exempted from the rule). Also, the rules seem to change all the time, so if you're close to the limit, I would air on the safe side and wait (or apply for cards from a different issuer).

hi quick question if I travel 2 or 3 times a year do you recommend me to have the chase sapphire reserve? or get southwest credit card?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 6 жыл бұрын
It's difficult to answer. I personally like the Chase Sapphire Reserve since you can transfer the points directly to Southwest if needed. Though it's worth examining your daily spending to see where you will take advantage of the bonus categories and travel credit. For example, I have both cards, but the Southwest card stays in the drawer while the Sapphire Reserve is in my wallet. I really like the Chase UR points structure and flexibility, and it seems to work well for my travel goals. 😊

Trip Astute I have bank of America travel reward but I don't seem to get a lot of miles so I want something that could give me more. Maybe I get the sapphire preferred first and upgrade maybe to reserve in the future. Not sure.
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's not a bad strategy since they both offer the same opening bonus at the moment. The power of the Chase Ultimate Rewards points comes in when you start pooling the points from multiple cards. For example, I have 5 Chase cards that earn UR points in different bonus categories, so even with my normal spending, I'm able to rack up a lot of points every month. Also, I know the annual fee on the Chase Sapphire Reserve can be intimidating, especially since it's so much more than the Sapphire Preferred. Keep in mind though that you get a lot of extra benefits, and for most people, the annual fee is closer to $150 instead of $450. If you need more info, check out our annual fee video for the breakdown: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHjcaaidn56kbZo The reason I mention it is that you may prefer a lot of the benefits of the Sapphire Reserve over the Sapphire Preferred. For example, we've used the airline lounge pass so many times in the past year, and I just renewed my Global Entry using the credit. 😎
@gonzalo90arg1
@gonzalo90arg1 6 жыл бұрын
Trip Astute I'm undecided trying to do some extra research also I heard that the sapphire reserve gives you $100 in domestic flight how does that work do you know? And can you book any airline from chase travel rewards?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 6 жыл бұрын
+GONZALO gomez The Sapphire Reserve actually gives you a $300 annual travel credit that is automatically applied as qualified expenses are charged. Since Chase considers Uber and parking charges as travel, those usually use up my travel credit quickly (especially since we are in LA). You can book most airlines via the Chase Portal too, but some are missing (e.g., Southwest). I always do a comparison when booking flights just to be safe. Sometimes it even makes more sense to transfer points to the airline rather than booking via the portal. 🤓

They asked me this question, "Can someone apply for Global Entry if they don't have tier 4 cards like Chase Sapphire Reserve, AMEX Platinum, etc...." (like if they have tier 3 card like AMEX Gold, etc.. and tier 2 card like AMEX everyday card, Chase freedom, etc...) My friends don't have tier 4 cards and that's why they asked me this?
@TripAstute
@TripAstute 7 жыл бұрын
No problem, we are happy to help out! You don't need to have a premium credit card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or American Express Platinum to apply for Global Entry. Though most people suggest having one of these cards when applying since they reimburse the application fee ($100). If you have any friends or family who have multiple premium credit cards and are not using the benefit, you can also ask them to pay the fee. 😉
