there have been a lot of stress tests with those side vents and they make your PS5 slightly cooler, your factless opinion doesn't matter here, the only thing making it hotter are the back vents factualy reducing the regular airflow

Excellent, and I thought I could trust the engineers at Sony in Japan, who studied for years the best way to make the console stay cool. Nothing better than drilling the console like this, much smarter.

Isnt it ideal to only place 1 dust filter as the other side need to exhaust the air it took in?

@@rileymoody7053 no your missing the point. If the air intakes from the top and releases thru the bottom, it would be best to allow the air to be exhausted without a dust filter, i removed my bottom one and i noticed my ps5 blows more air which is what you want.

@@Vintagefeen Based on Sony diagram on how the PS5 cooling system works, their fan shaped and work differently compared to something like, lets say an average PC fan. On the PS5 you can say that both sides of the fan are intake, so instead of passing air through, the fan actually pulling air from front and back then release it sideways. Assuming the console is positioned horizontally, the fan will pull air from the up and bottom side of the console, once inside, there is air duct that guide the hot air to the left and back side of the console. So if you buy one of these dust filter, it is make sense to put it on both sides of the fan.

I don’t suggest adding cooling fans behind for exhaust because what happens is basically now me I never had an issue with heat ps5 turning off so I had extra money laying around I was like get some accesories, I installed a 3 fans exhaust to help dissipate heat but what happened is the fans itsef gets overheated including the usb that used for its power and it shuts off completely to protect itself from power surges at first I didn’t know from what I restarted the ps5 removed charging wire for controller usb headset everything narrowed it down to the fans I removed it never got the issue again, if there isn’t a problem don’t counter it by adding something might create it, get the faceplates they wont farm no wires attached install and play and it has dust filter which might help to reduce the amount of dust yes it will be more since there is 2 open hatches but more airflow just not the exhaust thing

The leds, if yellow in color, are sensitive to physical pressure and are easily damaged. You should not press on them. There is a thin bonding wire in the yellow coating and if broken it will no longer light. I'd advise if possible, attack the screen to the outer plastic cover. An air filter that is close to a window screen is of questionable value. And thou you may wish to upgrade the cooling of your new toy, an effective filter will restrict the airflow of the original design and may void any warranty. But to each his own, but heat is the enemy of electronics. Especially tightly packed digital circuitry which does run hot by its very nature. And dust buildup on the circuit elements reduces the ability of cooling fans to extend the lifetime of the equipment. I'll on occasion blow air thru in the reverse direction to clear out the snow drifts of dust that are inside the machine. Ineffective airflow is ineffective at cooling. And cooling is the object of design. Restrictions that reduce cooling, no matter how well minded, are useless.

Nice. But isn't the original design's purpose to allow cool air to be drawn in and move across the entire PS5 to help cool it. Having the vents going straight to the internal fan like this one and the Dbrand ones, bypass the intended air flow and could possibly lead to overheating in areas now not receiving same amount of passing cool air. Any thoughts?

The air being drawn over the plastic shell of the console means absolutely nothing. The heat needs to be pulled from the internal components via heatpipes, which go to a heatsink, which is what the fan blasts its air through. Considering you can't change the size of the heatsink or the fan, the only thing you can really do to improve cooling is increase airflow over the heatsink. By adding intake fans AND outtake fans, you're basically forcefeeding the fan cool air and power pumping out the hot air on the other side, thus increasing airflow, and thus decreasing temps.

Think of a pc. Many people run an open case with no case fans. Just fans on the heatsinks for the processor and graphics card. But if you enclose the case, you put an intake and an outtake fan in the case to supply the actual heatsink fan with fresh air and exhaust the hot air.

The filters that come with it aren't exactly ideal. However, they sell filters with much smaller holes.
