I've been watching sprint car racing for about 30 years. My dad raced, my uncle raced, my brother raced etc etc. I can tell you that pole position people "checking out" in the heat race is extremely common. One of the reasons is that that "early" in the day the track is very tacky, and very fast. It's pretty much "hammer down and hang on". Not a lot of skill expression, but also not a lot of mistakes since everything just "sticks". Additionally, you can feel like you're going fine, and not be going optimally. Just committing no "errors" isn't good enough, especially in the heat. You need to try to be as straight as possible in the corners. Minimize sliding so much, keep it straight and try to turn just enough so you don't have to counter steer as much. That's why you were doing so well at limaland for a few laps that made you go from 6th to 2nd or 3rd in one corner. You were "straight" as you could be for a bit because you were afraid to turn down too much and as a result you were straighter through the corner. Same thing on these big tracks but the margin of error is a lot smaller since the overall speed is much higher.

Try not entering the corner too low or else what happens is you push up super high in the corner, i know it's easier said than done but it's just a piece of advice i think would help you a lot

if you loosen the car up for qualifying it might make you faster. car will turn more into the corner

You need to run the high line. And the camera view is for beginners. Go first person and get use to it.
