Polka was popular all.over W + E Europe N + S America. Philippines, etc. & still in in Mexico, Paraguay (3/4!? time), etc. It was 1 of mid 19th century 's top popular dances--- also waltz, mazurca (mazurek), galop, schottische, redowa, quadrille (square), English longways country dance ( contradance), etc.?

In mid + late 1800s several.W + European countries created 7 dances that were exported to rest of W Europe NE Europe. N +S America, Caribbean, Philippines, Cape Verde, Seychelles, Mauritius, etc. The 7--- polka, schottische, gallop, waltz, Mazurca (mazurek), quadrille/ square, English longways country dance (contradance).

Pandeiro is great! I don't know if it is possible in salsa rhythms. I think I have heard it, that someone tried this, but it is a long time ago.....

The goat-skin is good and thick, and I play it already for some years, the tone gets better the more you play on the skin. When you buy a skin, take care not to mount it too tight, so that you later on have the possibility to tune it low. Check haffnerperander com for good Pandeiros with good skins!
