Maxixe is the matrix of movements and structural body expression of all brazillian dances - we can see this ondulations in lambada, brazilian zouk, forro, the pumps of the hips are still in samba de gafieira, etc. It is also the basis of what is called today "international ballroom samba". the question that remain is: why and what for the international community change its name to samba? Maybe the best answer would be: money. Anyway, even the international version of Maxixe is a distorted one.

Agreed. Ballroom took a few concepts of maxxixe and made samba to be known as brazillian waltz. Look at early Arthur Murray's manuals in late 30 40s when foxtrot was still toe lead
