Just a heads up peeps if you order the tool online it says lifetime warranty in your cart. If you buy in store it only comes with a 90 day limited warranty! So buy online if you can! Again the free lifetime warranty pops up only after you have added the item to your cart. I went and returned the one i had bought in store and bought it and had it shipped to my house online so it would have the lifetime warranty attached!

Anyhow I got the tool for free by buying the charger and 5 a/h battery for $99.98, plus tax. Has better specs than dewalt stubby. Both brands are 6 inches from back to tip of anvil. Just picked one up, I'm impressed with the build quality. The knife blades have a good edge for factory edges. The files work well, no peeling on the diamond file yet, don't expect any either, I use that file daily. The scissors work well, no snag, nice smooth cut. The locking mechanism is good and strong, very positive lock, no slipping. For the price I'll be keeping a couple as back ups and in my camping gear. If you need a multitool and you are on a budget definitely get this, for $40 bucks it's worth it.

I don't understand the leatherman prices ... I mean the quality is not always good ... The steel sometimes is 440 or 420 ... And they still go tripling or quadrupling prices prices compared to other companies !!!

The warranty is surprisingly expensive. You are paying for those few people that abuse their tools and always send them in for repair, while it would be better for most people that Leathermans were sold without warranty but were user serviceable with a good supply of spare parts available. That way you could also modify it to match your needs which is what many people want.

So, personal opinion here: I have an original Leatherman 1984 model that, not surprisingly, I bought in 1984. It is on my hip this very day. Battered and bruised from the decades, but still 100% functional. Still made in Oregon, Leatherman tools are American made! So, why would I consider a cheap, Chinese slave labor produced product?, that may last a few years, because, your video is only introducing the tool, but you have no long term use of the product to prove it has any long lasting value. Leatherman also has a lifetime warranty, but in 40 years, I have never had to have my Leatherman replaced. You be you. I'll be me.
@EfficientRVer7 ай бұрын
Consider this. The only factory paycheck your Leatherman contributed to, was paid to a factory worker 40 years ago. That IS NOT supporting the US economy today, AT ALL. The clone I bought today at HF, contributed to the paychecks of the 5 or so folks manning the store, plus some US truckers, longshoremen, marketing geniuses, sale-flyer printers, and countless others. I lose my Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, before I can break them, also. So I keep the rich folks in Switzerland employed, no Chinese "slaves" nor US workers involved in that case. But I think if I can catch my favorite SAK on sale for $40 or $50 (from $100+) occasionally, then it would be nice if a Leatherman Wave showed up at Costco or Sam's for $50 once in a while. But they don't, so today I spent $32 on this Chinese gem instead, and contributed to both the US economy and the Chinese economy. Go visit China before assuming all workers there are "slaves". The original growth of the USA and its economy, was largely based on ACTUAL slave labor, widespread child labor, and some really horrible working conditions in mines, factories, construction, sweat shops, etc. Just because we went through that phase long ago, doesn't mean that other countries don't have to go through it on their own way up the economic ladder. Here in the USA, we build nuclear subs and business jets and 18 wheelers. Sometimes we build airliners well, sometimes poorly. But we leave the making of consumer-level tools to other countries now. I'm OK with that.

I have lived in Oregon not far from the Leatherman factory for as long as Leatherman has existed. Suffice to say, "Made in Oregon" does not hold nearly the same meaning it held 40 years ago. If Leatherman was still putting out OG quality, I would agree with you. But they don't, so I don't.

25 year warranty for LM. I am obsessed with my Wave Plus and NEVER leave the house without it. I use it all the time and I won't give it up! I also think this tool looks cool but would not go buy it since I have the actual Wave Plus. I can see for people who can't afford the Wave Plus BUT for me quality over quantity and I prefer U.S.A. made.

Just like with Glock, just like with Snap On, this isnt 1980 anymore. Companies that were seen as the tried and true that continue to not innovate & not take customer feedback are getting blown out of the water by those that do, with more features and more value
@NiSE_Rafter7 ай бұрын
I agree with the Snap On comparison but Glocks still aren't really that much more expensive than their competitors and have higher QC + reliability. One of the "it just works" options on the market. Yes I know the dagger performs as well 90% of the time, but there's also been plenty of issues with the micro-dagger and sabre dagger. Would rather get a used glock than a new dagger. Shadow Systems is more expensive for not much more performance. P320 is more expensive with a mixed reputation. More niche options like Canik are doing well but hard to find holsters and accessories for. Please don't misconstrue these statements as me being a glock fanboy, I own the other brands like Sig, S&W, Ruger, and etc too.

I have one of the original Letherman tools. It is an extremely dangerous tool. I have to say Gerber put them to shame with their first entry. Letherman, tools exit toward your grip, hand and fingers. Gerber, tools exit away from your grip to the inside of the grip. Don't know if that made any sense, but it sure is a whole lot safer to use.
