This is such a beautifully crafted narrative of challenge, radical honesty, and growth. I was especially struck by your discussion of envy, which is rarely discussed so openly in our society. And once you acknowledged it, it dissolved into a celebration of others’ processes and victories. Max, you rock!! The music choice - your friend’s is brilliantly profound.

Oh Max, I feel you. I'm 34, all my life was about sports, after third pregnancy I wanted to top my form and was very consistent with my workouts no matter what. Then after 6 months everything started to go against. Kids being sick and then me and my husband, then injury after injury, I was in terrible pain. I definitely know what you mean. Where is the point of pushing things to happen and when to let go. Where is my limit? I can force it but what then...? Another injury? How it's gonna affect my everyday life with kids? Who's gonna do all my work?... I believe it's just a matter of timing. There will be time to put more Focus on myself, on my individual goals. Bless

I have run a couple of marathons and in the beginning it started with…. Can I run 10 miles??? Can I run 20 miles… with good health the answer is yes. I may not have been fast and at times took walk breaks but I finished. What I learned through my journey is that it is not starting or finishing the race… it is about the journey. You learn more… about yourself, about others about the world around you. Running is as mental as it is physical. There are benefits in any journey even if it does not end as you planned. You know what beats a failure… someone who never even tried. Your journey was not a failure because while it was going well you learned and enjoyed the training. Now please take care of yourself and listen to what your body is telling you.

As a person who is 29 too, I understand what its like to want to get something big done last minute. That being said, there is a certain humility in learning that.. life goes on. Our 20s were a period in our lives that has a high emphasis but there are more pastures, and mountains to climb. 29.. is a rest stop before the adventure resumes. All the best from the US! ( and your kid is getting so big omg!)

As a runner since the age of 14 (I’m 48 now) let me tell you it’s a great sport. You can always have it. Just be sure to take care of yourself. Watch the surfaces, get your rest and proper nutrition. There will always be obstacles. Don’t let go. Also incorporate strength training into your workout. You can’t run when you’re sick though. Also get your rest. You can sometimes feel sick from being so run down. Glad you saw a doctor.

Hey Max! You should do a blood work in regard to inflammation and lacking nutrition and let it be checked by a dietitian. Zinc is highly good against inflammations. The other point is there's a documentary about sport shoes making athletes sick. The sole where the back side is 2-3 higher than the front is very bad for knees therefore also the back. Back as front of the soles should the same height. Love 🕊️

The video is really beautiful and I also love your friend's song in the end. I don't understand the lyrics unfortunately but I like the sound and based on what you told us in the video, including this song has a lot of meaning for you. I did not train for a marathon and I'm already 35 lol but I'm trying to learn a similar lesson about respecting the limitations of my body. It does not matter that we are super motivated and focused, the body has an agenda of its own and we have to learn to respect it.

👍🤩💝💫Great video Max. You’re a great storyteller and film maker. Regarding not being able to run in the marathon, however, you did participate on the sidelines in the marathon. From my perspective, I feel like it’s important to reframe the goal. I did something similar with some similar goals, and what I did was trained for the goal I wanted to accomplish (like the marathon & the long hike),and when I was ready physically then I signed up for the marathon and planned to do the long hike and by doing it that way, I didn’t feel like I was failing or that I had failed to reach my goal. I just simply did it when I was physically and mentally ready to do it. You’ll do it, it just wasn’t this time. You have to listen to your body and it was not ready yet / this time but eventually you’ll be able to do it. I know the point was you wanted to accomplish it this year while you’re 29 but you could keep training and conditioning your body and look for a different marathon that you can do when you’re ready. Don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s all part of the journey.🙏💝

Max, I used to run, and made the mistake of running on asphalt and not always running in proper shoes. I started experiencing plantar fasciitis, and despite treatment that included surgery, it's never gotten better. I finally quit running, which unfortunately has led to other health problems. If I could have a redo I would have never ran on asphalt and paid better attention to my shoes. I wouldn't have made running my main exercise, but instead had an exercise program that included whole body strengthening. Running is addictive, and it can be difficult to pay attention to what our body is telling us. Let your body heal and then get advice from a PT on creating an exercise program. Also, if needed, get help for anxiety and depression. 🙏
