@@willparker547 I would have to agree, eventhough Max is amazing i think comparing him to Mozart isn't doing him any favors. Mozart wrote his first symphony at 8 years old (lol) , he was apparently known as a musician before that. Laying something like that on a 15 year old kid somehow expecting him to live up to it can stifle anyones developement and creativity. I'm sure Max will do great things in the future, that however remains to be seen.

One thing is clear though, his playing is maturing really fast , his vibrato is so much better than it was a year ago and he keeps adding more to his arsenal like hybrid picking etc.

Agree! Very little to critique in his playing. Many of his videos display great phrasing, and clean technique. It is like Cacophony and Paul Gilbert made a baby?!? If I were his teacher, I would try to expose him more to Lead Players that do More with Less, e.g. Gary Moore, David Gilmore, Billy Gibbons, Brian May, Neal Schon, Gary Richrath, Steve Lukather, Troy Van Leeuwen, Tom Scholz, Stevie Stevens, etc. He's already got the "shred" part down! Vito Bratta and George Lynch are good hybrid players to examine. Deep Dive is Grant Green and Paco De Lucia.

The thing with Max Ostro is that he is young, a kid basically but you compare his playing to shredders in the genre and not to other kids. Many young players you hear may think they are playing a song like the album but their ears haven’t developed enough to hear that they actually are not that close to master a song even many older guys/gals do this as well. Max Ostro on the other hand does seem to hear and judges his own playing maturely his intonation , phrasing and vibrato is where it should be. I’m pretty sure he’s got a good mentor/parent, that has developed Max’s understanding for musiic but he also has a good ear for music (musical IQ). I’m actually really interested in hearing about the backstory of his playing and musical interest. I’m looking forward to see more playing and really curious what path he’s going make with his music and playing.
