Very entertaining video! I agree - it's fairly amazing that a country with just 10 million inhabitants has managed to achieve such success in the ESC. Then again, Ireland with just 5 million inhabitants has managed to win the entire competition as many times as Sweden - 7.

23:35 Hahaha, I feel like sweden in general has had a bit of a habit of sending a good-looking dude with a pop song as their act each year, the last many years now! To me, it's a bit much of the same, but yeah they are definitly showing off all the pretty boys 😂

9:55 Björn Skifs is known for his hit "Hooked on a Feeling" with his band "Blue Swede". If you want to react to something a bit newer from him I really recommend his duet with Agnes at our Crown Princess Victoria's wedding in 2010: "Björn Skifs & Agnes - When You Tell The World You're Mine". It's almost like a love song from a Disney movie. Really cute. Perhaps you can react to that one?

Please react to Tommy Körberg Stad i ljus (City in lights). It competed in ESC 1988, but he was sick so the song didn't do that well. But it has become an absolute classic in Sweden. It's usually played when the bar closes and all drunk people sing along while getting their jackets to go home.
@Vinterfrid
@Vinterfrid 7 ай бұрын
Tommy Körberg has a voice like few other male singers have - but "Stad i ljus" is a very poor song; I've always been surprised that he decided to perform it in the first place. I'd recommend listening to his version of "Red red wine" from 1967 - he actually recorded it before the composer Neil Diamond did.

First time Sweden sang in English in Eurovision was in 1965, it was Ingvar Wixell with the song "Absent Friend". The year after they banned non-native English speaking countries to sing in English. 1956-1965 People were free to sing in whatever language they wanted, all sang in one of their official langauges, except Sweden in 1965. 1966-1972 Everyone was forced to sing in their official languages. 1973-1976 People were free to sing in whatever language they liked (ABBA won with ABBA during this time period, in 1974) 1977-1998 Everyone was forced to sing in their official languages. 1999- People are again free to sing in whatever language they like.

In 1999 they started to translate all the songs from their original language to English for ESC. "Take me to your heaven" worked pretty well but, translating"När vindarna viskar mitt namn" the year after lost most of it's feeling in when translated to English. Good that it seems more appreciated to sing in native languages again.

Still doesnt change that Sweden got better musicians than Denmark besides AQUA!! :D If i recall correctly Danish National TV chief felt that the performance was too bad in Eurovision and rather wanted to spend money on something else. Let me offer some context to the Nordic/Scandinavia differences Scandinavia ( Norway, Sweden, Denmark) all at one point of history was the same country and/or in a union much like the UK ( England , Scotland, Wales), we have the same culture, traditions and customs... We share a language ( its 3 different languages but from the same branch and both written and spoken are understandable for eachother, but could be hard for some) we share politics ,trading , and numerous other agreements. We call eachother brothers and sister because we come from the same ancestors. Nordic includes Island and Finland And although Sweden and Finland has been in a union and Island is created by Norwegian emigrents , they are not as close to us because the differences are much greater and language are not the same (we communicate in English with them (Finland is thought Swedish InSchool so we can understand them if they opt for finish-Swedish ) but Finish and Islandic are not understandable for the Scandinavians .... We also dont have as many agreements and deals with them so thats why they are referred to as our Cousins.... We are close but not that close ... But we do have a Nordic parlament ( that consists of all of the Nordic countries ) Nordisk Råd that gathers all the state of head and decides important trade and politics for the entire Nordic ... Also Scandinavia is a monarchy (3) and has been under the same Kingdom before ... All our royals are related . Island and Finland are not monarchy

The region Scandinavia is Norway, Sweden and Denmark due to history, culture and language reasons, Finnish is the only Nordic language that has no similarities with the others, so even though the peninsula includes Finland and not Denmark, Finland is not considered Scandinavian.

I really think most of the judges don't know anything about music since only by the judges Loreen won 2023 while Finland's Käärijä devastated her by far higher crowd score so the result was mostly a rob. Ok, Eurovision is not known for that much quality music. There is so much gray mass stuff that don't have anything fresh or outstanding. Some shines here and there every now and then like Lord of the Lost (GER) in 2023. They should have been a lot higher.

Seriously give it a rest already, she got the second highest public vote, and she actually had a decent song unlike the Finnish one. If you enter the competition you have to accept that there’s going to be a jury voting to.
@MaxSujyNorden

I actually agree that Lord of the Lost should have been higher, I mentioned it here on our other channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJSxdphtqa94g68 But about your comment, Loreen got 2nd place from the public so it's not like people didn't enjoy. And also, the public have different criteria. To me, the lady from Israel who won recently and the group from Ukraine both were not my cup of tea.

@@MelinaJamiee It's not just this year, this is a consistant thing with the jury. Their purpose is supposed to be to give a leg up to songs that might not be what is popular, but has artistic quality. Yet consistantly they do the opposite to an even greater extent than the audience. Usually they will heap points on the most predictable favourites, and starving out the chances of anything that dares try to be different, experimental or "too" artistic. Even when the audience goes against what's expected of them and get behind an artist like that once exposed to them, the jury is there like a brick wall that only the odd miracle like Måneskinn can ever hope to pass. And songs of this kind that doesn't get an audience momuntum behind them are usually left in the dirt as a result. (See what happened to Lord of the Lost this year.) While Tatoo was not to my liking personally, I will, unlike you, refrain from throwing dirt at the artist, because she is not responsible for the behaviour of her fans, who want everyone to shut up about this obvious problem that has been known and talked about for years, just because this time it worked out in their favour.
@alftuvik3820
@alftuvik3820 7 ай бұрын
@@Painocus The jury members identities are usually revealed afterwards and from my country I'm usually not exactly impressed, it's rarely people with a ton of experience in the music industry. Sure, some of them are talented singers, but usually ones who hasn't done much yet. Most of the time there's maybe 1 older artist who has been in the industry for a long time, maybe one journalist and then a bunch of artists who's careers has barely started, who is trying without much success or who's only notable achievement in music is participating in Eurovision or the national final once, one of our 2022 jury members was 17 years old and had barely started as an artist after competing on a talent show. Most are not experts, they are just random people with their own personal taste and biases just like any other regular voters, having talent does not mean you are more qualified than any other random person on the street and that's my personal issue with the jury system, there exists no reasons for them to have more of a say than the rest of the voters especially when they don't judge based on any specific criteria like they are supposedly supposed to do.
@MaxSujyNorden
@MaxSujyNorden 7 ай бұрын
You cannot mention Tattoo because Loreen got 2nd place public vote. She was highly popular with the public. You are losing credibility by using Loreen fans as an example, because it's a bad one. Also, insisting on giving all the weight to the public would mean changing the concept of Eurovision completely. If you want an entirely public decision then you can advocate for a new style of Eurovision contest. This one is a mix of judges and public votes. And if your favorite artist lose you will obv complain. Also, music taste is subjective, therefore the odds of 10 person agreeing with thousands of people is very low. It will be similarly rank but rarely exactly the same. I went to every 2nd place finisher comment section of the last 20 years and saw people complain non-stop. I went to the 1st place finisher and saw nobody complain. Do you understand what I mean? You will find people to praise and complain about the winner every single year.

I can't disagree with you more. Emmelie de Forest deservedly won in 2013. Top 10 best Eurovision winner imo. Norway 2013 was meh yet she got 4th which imo is way too high. And 2015, Måns Zelmerlöw is one of Sujy's favorite. I like Norway entrance but not a winning performance. Although they got 8th I think they were better than the 2013 one.
