Again, Volvo engineer(s) - thank you for another excellent product...! Gordon in Maui

I don't understand why the black & white footage of what is clearly the same site in the same time period? What was the point? That being said, Volvo earth moving machinery is by far my favorite make. Having used their excavators for many years, I have to say they leave the Komatsu and Caterpillers in their wake. And I drive a Volvo too! :)

Because with the trailer,the trailer is carrying more capacity than the standard articulated truck and for the same power 🙂

By keeping the front half, as almost stock volvo dump truck and just adding the big tipping trailer, looks like a good cheap way to get extra capacity without redesigning the whole truck. However, unless the trailer wheels are also driven, to maintain the original all-round great traction, there is no advantage over that other truck/big tipping trailer combination which appears in the video! In fact the volvo big tipping trailer combination looks more difficult to reverse and is probably slower on the open roads than the other truck/trailer combo?

That's a pretty neat attachment. We've been setting up our rock trucks with hitches and k-tec scraper pans lately and the trucks don't skip a beat. How many tons will that trailer haul attached to a A40f or g?

If your ktec pans have rear brakes keep an eye on the bolts that hold the rotor onto the hub. They back out and brake off.

That looks like a serious pain in the ass to back up. The front is articulated then the hitch and then the short trailer... bigger wheels on the back and uneven ground. And those trucks are easy to tip over in the first place. The video showed the operator doing just fine but what about a green operator? Groovy machine and concept but the potential for error is big.
@Sjanzo10 жыл бұрын
The green operators start on a standard ADT... And get about just as far as an experienced operator with one of these. The reason that the trailer tires are taller and more narrow than the ADTs is because it decreases resistance in terrain. The wider ADT tires push the mud aside and provide a low resistance path for the tall trailer tires.

These Volvos are great trucks, adt's can go a hell a lot more places then rigid frames and dont get stuck very easily. They are on a confined work space that's why they opted out of rigid frames.
@gregbraddy14977 жыл бұрын
What they have done is turn a 40 ton off road dump truck into a 60 ton off road dump truck by adding the back tandem. I can tell you that truck is a bitch to back have driven a 40 ton truck for a short period of time. I loved driving a 50 ton off road truck as they were big and easy to back

The bigger dumper is less efficient than the smaller one with the greedy boards. 1. It's slower. 2. the skip body is slimmer through design to make it more stable. 3. It's needs more room to manouvre and is more difficult to do so. 4. It is taking longer to tip and using more fuel and higher revs too. Nice machine, poor return.....Sorry it's a thumbs down for me.

+David Ellis Assume its 10% slower, uses 10% more fuel and needs a 10% more experienced driver. All that while being 100% more efficient. Still sounds like a win to me even if you go nuts and change all numbers to 20%.

@stephenhogan25265 жыл бұрын
It hauls 80 ton
@turningpoint66434 жыл бұрын
773's are in another class, they'd need larger loading equipment to gain the best efficiency for production, wider haul roads etc. These can still run on the average width of roads smaller construction sites might have. With the number of articulated trucks I've had to put back on there wheels after a driver laid one over I'd guess these would be even easier to do the same.

@BuddlerC10 жыл бұрын
ich hab es zwar nicht verglichen aber ich denk deine Argumente sind ganz klar Abhängig von den Umständen auf der Baustelle (Streckenlänge und Platz). Die Geschindigkeit ist vermutlich gleich. :)
