Maxxis Grifters on an SE Bikes Monster Quad

Same thing happened to me with my hookworm tires. A tiny rock that looked like a piece of a shell barely cut the tire and put a micro cut in the tube that managed to make it go flat over night.

Check out the Maxxis Detonators, just installed them on my 26" Blocks Flyer the other day. Super light, 1 1/2" wide low profile tires that perform really nicely on the BMX track or road. Great way to lighten up the bike from those chunky balloon tires!

Hey I have the hookworm but they are not so good when is raining because they splash water on your back and face what about your tires? They have some water protection?

I would say the Grifters would do the same. I don't know of any tire that doesn't splash up on you when riding in the rain. The only other option is to install some sort of fender, but I don't think that would look very nice on these kinds of bikes. I've ridden in the rain with this tire and it still splashed up on me. I have the Hookworms on my Zooz e-bike and those don't have a lot of deep threads in them either. I think it depends on what kind of riding you'll do. I do a mix of streets and gravel/dirt roads and got like two flat tires on the Grifters in less than a month from just small, sharp pebbles. A friend of mine also had this issue too with the Grifters. I do just street riding on the Zooz with the Hookworms and those have been fine so far. Surprisingly enough though, I have not had another flat on the Grifters and I haven't changed my rides so who knows? Sorry man, wish I could tell you which one is better. I think it just depends on what you'll be riding on. Thanks for watching and for the comment!

They are on the slicker side so you might have to be more careful. Personally I havenʻt ridden them a whole lot in a ton of water so I canʻt be 100% certain. Do you get a lot of rain where you live? Thanks for the comment and I wish I could have given you better info! 🤙🏻

@@cruisinginthe808I live in nyc and I own the Maxxis grifter on my bmx but I haven’t really had a big chance to drive while in the rain, only major different I’ve noticed is when I try drift they don’t slide that much more in the wet so I’m trying to get your experience with them on the wet

I found 'em on Amazon. I first bought them from a mainland bike shop but they wanted a ridiculous amount to ship it to Hawaii so they had to cancel my order. I wasn't going to pay more for the shipping than for the tires. They were more expensive on Amazon but with free shipping it was still cheaper than that other bike shop. @@danielkach9551 - You would just do a search for Maxxis Grifter and it comes up on Amazon. These are 2.5 tires, not 2.8 like the stock tires on the Monster Quad. That's a stem from Custom Street Toyz....check them out in Instagram. @custom_street_toyz. The guy also has sprockets and does custom work on seats. He has some nice stuff!
