Dealer tried to show me mine at 32k miles, not far off from condition of yours, and said a new one was $42! I recalled this video, and how easy it is. Parys counter said $32? Online Toyota ones were $19, not too bad. I just bought a cheap $8 well rated Amazon one many other XB owners use. Installed today in 5 minutes. Thanks!

Just know that some filters have up arrows and others have air flow arrows. Up is up but air flow arrows should point down.

Thanks for.posting this, I started noticing a smell and had completely forgotten about the cabin air filter. Went to the store, looked in that orange colored book in the oil filter isle, and low and behold, both air filters were listed

I just noticed that my blower is not putting out the volume of air that it should, and I thought maybe this was why. I think you are right..i'm going to change mine out. It has 26K miles on it and has never been changed.

Hi Eli, this was a great video! I actually got in KZbin to find something else about my Xb but this was something that I need to do as well. Thank you for that. I wonder if you might be able to give me some advice on what I actually was looking for. A body shop installed new fog lights on my 2009 Xb and when I picked it up, the AC/Heater fan was not working. I could turn on the AC and the compressor was working, but nothing is coming out of the vents even with the fan on the highest position. I am "hoping" it is just a fuse. I looked in the owners manual and there is nothing telling about the AC/Heater blower motor. I got on the internet and couldn't find anything either. That is when I turned to KZbin. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!!

I'm watching this because I think something fell out of the glove box into the space behind the dash there. edit: what I was looking for didn't, but I did find a receipt behind the foot guard on the passenger side door. Kudos to Toyota for making so many things in this car easy to remove. Points deducted for allowing glove compartment items to fall back there to begin with.

thank you you're wonderful all I needed to know was which way do the arrows went for the airflow thank you have a beautiful day :-)
@njsongwriter4 жыл бұрын
If it says air flow next to the arrow then the arrow points down. If it says up next to the arrow then it's not an air flow indicator. It's just telling you which side goes up.

thanks for the video it helped me out a lot. I have a question also can this cause water leakage in the car if the filter is dirty ? ...that's my current situation
@alltheseflavors5 жыл бұрын
I know this was posted 2 years ago & you hopefully figured it out by now, But I saw a video here where a small rubber hose near the floor on the passenger side that came from the air conditioner, I believe, had come out of its drainage hole through the body of the car and was pouring water into the carpet. Hope this helps someone

One question for the cabin filter, how long do u need replace the cabin filter for the xB2/xB2.5? At 1:45, lol nevermind I found it. Now I think it’s time to change my cabin air filter since my 2915 Scion xB2.5 is 1,000 miles less reached to 30,000 miles. Along with replacing my air filter for TRD as well. Thanks man.
@Eliyourcarguy6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is 30,000 miles! Thanks for watching

Thanks for the vid. I have a 2006 xB and recently purchased a cabin filter from China for $3.99 plus free shipping. Arrived in good time and was the correct size. Can't beat that price!

hope you didn't throw that out. the ones that come in scion xb are cleanable according to the manual. looking at the old one it has metal in it and looks like it is made out of cloth like instead of paper.

How often do you get a tune up. I don't think "tune up" is even part of scheduled services.

So according to the arrow on the filter, the airflow is up? If so, how did the top of your filter have all the junk in it?
@njsongwriter3 жыл бұрын
Up is up. Air flow is down.

Did you ever have an issue with this car burning oil? I am thinking of buying a used 2012 xB and there are stories everywhere online about this engine (2.4 liter 2AZ-FE) burning oil. Thanks Doug
@rodkneed3 жыл бұрын
Some of these motors do develop an oil consumption problem. Toyota acknowledges the problem and has an extended repair campaign for these motors, up to 150k miles and 10 years from original sale date. The problem usually develops later in life. Consult your local Toyota Dealer for details. They can probably tell you if a particular car has had the repair or if it is still eligible. Typically has to use more than one quart every one thousand miles to be considered a problem under the campaign.

Go-to carcomplaints.com to determine if it applies to your year and model. It may also depend on where it was assembled.

Most of the XB'S burn oil after 80k... It is a defect. Mine surpasses the 135k and burns about 2.5 Qts every 1k. Ironically It still running like new... Powerfully and smoothly. It gets done religiously its oil change and filter services every 4k. It just require continuously having to top off the engine oil with a higher grade cause the synthetic oil options for high mileage engines suggested by the manufacturer won't get you through the 5k service intervals. Other than that the Scion XB is a very reliable automobile.

@Free_Samples7 жыл бұрын
you need to turn it around, you put it in long ways it needs to go sideways
@PDXBuys6 жыл бұрын
For a 2006 it is slightly rectangular so it only fits one way (sideways).
