Hi Max, you should mention that a Skilled Worker Diploma (IHK) could be the first step to become a Crafts master. That means, you will be allowed to start your own business and offer apprenticeship yourself! Crafts master are a high regarded non-academic profession! As mentioned before: Crafts master are often much earlier to afford a Merc than their brighter playmates from the Kindergarten!

Hello, first of all I'm from Germany and I'm studying computer science in Germany. The thing is, an apprenticeship (Ausbildung) is like a worse degree with a worse salary afterwards. But it depends on which apprenticeship you do exactly. There are better ones like bank clerk, but generally people who don't want to go to university and are happy to start their working life with a "poorer qualification" are looking for an apprenticeship. However, the difference in the value of the qualification between Ausbildung and studing varies depending on the professional field. In my professional field (computer science) there is the "IT specialist" Ausbildung. As I said, this is like a poorer degree course and if you're unlucky you won't be taught important professional topics that you learn and learn better in a degree course. It should also be noted that you can do an apprenticeship after the 10th grade. To study at university, you generally have to have completed your Abitur, i.e. have been at school until the 13th grade. So if you have the opportunity to study a subject, the money and accommodation, as well as the will to do so, you should definitely do it and not be tempted to do an apprenticeship. However, I had to catch up on my general higher education entrance qualification in order to attend one of the traditional technical universities. TU Braunschweig. Not easy to do, but I succeeded at least. My advice would be to acquire a university entrance qualification anyway! It is very sad if you are barred from higher education later on!

Only related subjects. The only non field related subject I had was ethics but it was a optional subject, you could choose not to take it. I would say that economics is a subject almost every Ausbildung has, but subjects like history and maths would only be taught in very specific Ausbildungen that specialize in those fields. I did a Fachinformatiker Ausbildung and had no maths, but if you study something electronics related you might have subject containing maths and physics. And I would say that a Ausbildung is generally easier than a Abitur, because you have more time for learning,and they have to accommodate every student with their different school backgrounds. In contrast to dual studies (I’m studying CS now) the Ausbildung was a walk in the park.

If you got a skilled worker diploma previously to Uni you need not to do a usual zero-brain job! I got much more demands to build devices than I could do! Devices for PhD students! Got it? I got a skilled worker diploma and could build electronic devices. I could use the workshop of the institute and make the price!

For example: I already was an electronic technician, that means I knew a lot of the stuff, but not on TU level,... but I could build electronic devices! I could earn a lot of money in short time! No need to do unskilled labor! I was allowed to use the equipment of the institute's workshops also! You are not allowed tho use that if unskilled!

Just check your homecountry german embassy. From where I'm from the visa literally called "ausbildung visa" you just need to brought your german language certificate, your contract with the company who will trained you. Usually they will asked how much you earned, where is the training located, where u gonna live etc

Here in my country, the German embassy asked for around 927 to 1000 euro a month. If the company paid u less than that they may asked u to provide a proof that u have an account that will covered the rest
