Hang in there Curtis, I will get better! This rain seems to be country wide, lots of Lawn Service Folks are stressed out for sure. I just tell the customers when they insist on getting their property mowed and its so wet, sure we will do it but first you will sign a waiver releasing us from any liabilities to the damage that WILL occur from us mowing water logged lawns ie... tire track marks on the grass, rutting the lawn up from the weight of our equipment etc...Customers tend to back up quick when you ask them to sign that paper!!! I hope that it all comes together quickly for you Curtis!!! Thanks for the videos!

I can totally relate to a lot of the things you said Curtis. My old truck broke down in May and after a $1400 charge to replace the fuel pump and a sensor I was back on the road in two days. Rain delays! Oh yea same here. I'm in my late 50's and I do what I can, you have to know your limitations. There's an old cliche' that you can please some of the people some of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time. If your customer requirement is to do business with people that are concerned with your health and safety they are few. My business grows because I offer a quality friendly service and I engage in a lot of small talk when I see my customers. I'm there to solve one problem and that's it, service there lawn to the best of my ability and move on to the next one (it's not personal it's business). As for as the impatient customer that wants their yard cut that has grown a foot because of rain delays and poor drainage I say sometimes you just have to fire the customer and move on. Picking up on something you said "I can always get more yards" keep that in mind and move on. The next guy they get will deal with the same issues and probably not do what you do to accommodate them or go broke trying and my guess is you will hear from them again to add them back to your schedule, that's a gotcha moment and you define your policy from there. Treat it like water on a ducks back or that annoying disney movie song "Let it Go" ha-ha Last year my season ended early because of drought, the grass had almost stopped growing and/or was dying. I had no customers that were jumping through a hoop to allow me to do other work to supplement my income. Good luck, enjoy your videos.

You do a great job Curtis! Keep up the good work. What brand of weed eater do you use? Looks like a Shindaiwa from what I can tell. I have 2 Echo's. An old SRM1501 and a 3 week old PAS266.

thanks for sharing your thoughts, its always good to hear from you. You are so right about when school is out the kids will steal your stuff, car break-ins and garage break-ins sky rocket during the summer i hope you get some attempts on camera but you keep your stuff safe secure. I see you like FORD trucks!!!! nice.

Hey Curtis, keep your head up man. I thought it was bad in dallas but, i heard yall were swimming with the sharks out in houston. Its June 1st so we should be in for the hot and dry part of the season.

I feel your pain Curtis. This Houston weather is showing us down. Don't worry about telling your customers no. I refuse to cut the ones I know I will leave ruts in. If they insist, forget em, let em hire someone else. There are plenty more good customers it there. Need help just holler at me. Be easy buddy...

Not sure about the shop you took that ford too, I've never seen a ruined ring gear in my 60 year lifetime. Doesn't seem right to me and there are places that will milk the last dollar out of a preacher, stay away from them is about all you can really do about it. They don't have a conscience to be bothered by, so they aren't ever going to be ethical. First words out of your mouth should be I want my old parts back and that might set a different tone for them where they don't get to do just anything they want where you never see a ruined ring gear. Could be they just lied about changing it too, no extra cost on their part after all. Parts back means they have to at least ruin one from somewhere and most liars aren't that industrious to do even that much. Very glad to know that you can still make light of the wet grass situation, humor is a very powerful tool and you are masterful with it, you get me laughing just about every time you bring your focus to an issue.

Keep your head up Curtis & don't stress over what somebody is saying or only concerned about there yard. Your right times have changed and a whole different generation has taken over, with no respect or morals. And if they can't understand what lawncare guys go through then you don't need them. All it is is drama they think they are the only ones that exist. They don't know the half of it so stay strong man. Latter

Keep at it sir. I completely agree with the strange people these days. Everyone plays dumb.. Lie.. Don't own up to Anything.. Lazy.. Have their hand out.. Cold hearted.. Their defense to anything is to look at their phone. Strange individuals these days. Just don't lose sight as to who you are. That's all that matters.

I feel your pain Curtis, had a customer get on my nerves today. Her son lives at this property and lets the Dog shit every where and doesn't pick it up. I'm so angry and trying not to sin. I told her clean up the yard so I can do the edges, or I'll just keep riding through it rather than walk through all that dog shit or she can pay me $60 a cut instead of 45. She gets mad and I'm like just fire me woman. In the end I do the edges and as soon as I pick up a few more customers I'm firing her azz for being disrespectful to me by having me mow her Dog shit yard for $45 and not valuing my service or being considerate.
