Love listening to this! I have a few of these on my TBR pile, too. I’m REALLY looking forward to reading Leif Enger’s new book, I Cheerfully Refuse.

I really enjoyed hilltop Farm! Susan Whittig Albert also wrote a wilder rose which is about Laura and rose Wikder. It was my favorite of hers so far. The last Dance of the Debutant sound interistin. I love that you continued Emily story!!

I’ve heard of Wilder Rose. Rose Wilder Lane would be a difficult woman to create a sympathetic character from so I feel like Whittington Albert must be great at character development! Looking forward to Hilltop Farm. :)

Unfortunately, I have only been able to finish Frankenstein for #MaryShelleyMay2024. I have been reading the biography by Muriel Spark, but I am not going to be able to finish it before May ends. 😒 It is so good though. Thank you so much for all the recommendations. Also, the letters are so good. I also want to read some of her essays that are in the book with the letters. I hope you have this next year because I definitely want to take part in this again! I hope I'll do better.

I am stuck on the Iliad right now. I don't mind it, but not very engaged either. I am over halfway, so I definitely want to finish, and I am excited for the Odyssey once I get to it as I really enjoyed it in high school. My Dark Vanessa is heavy, but really well done. It took the author 18 years to write it, and the time they took really shows. The focus is really more on Vanessa and her thoughts. I hope you have a great month.

I’ve been taking note of your journey with the Iliad. 😂 I’m hoping it reads quickly. I’ve never read The Odyssey and that’s the one I’m really interested in but I felt like I should reread the Iliad first.

Recommending Eynhallow by Tim McGregor to be added to your Mary Shelly May TBR.

Are there any books you would recommend for Mary Shelley May besides Frankenstein? And I’ll be joining (I mean, why not add more???) 😊😂

Love this! Muriel Spark’s biography of Mary Shelley is very good, and two years ago I read a collection of her letters edited by Betty T. Bennett that was so phenomenally done. If you want something else by Mary then I recommend Maurice. It’s sometimes published under the name The Fisher’s Cot. The 2000 edition published by University of Chicago press has a really great forward (read it afterward) by Claire Tomlin. Hope one or more of these helps! I’ve been able to find all of these at my local library and/or on sites like betterworldbooks, Abe, and thrift. So they should be pretty easy to track down. Let me know how it goes!
