I love the Oxford World Classic covers. Beautiful art and then that white stripe. 😅

Same! Penguin classics feel better in my hands but I love the look of the Oxfords on my shelves.

I think Vanessa Riley’s book definitely counts. Vanessa is a huge Austen fan, I had her in my podcast and we ended up talking about Jane Austen a lot 😂! She has some great books too.

Thanks Art! That’s good to know. I’ll have to pop onto your channel and watch that interview. I know I loved the one you did with Mimi Matthews awhile back. Such good conversation.

Great TBR! So great, in fact, that I found books to order! Oops! Haha! Oh well! Always look forward to your TBRs!

Oooh! What did you order? 📚📚📚😂
@bethsbookishreviews93744 ай бұрын
@@Bookslovejenna haha!! I ordered the annotated Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility. And then I ordered Godmersham Park! I really want to order the Nicola Yoon book that you showed-One of Our Kind, but I held back on that one. I am going to read Christina Lauren's The Paradise Problem in July. It is on my tbr as well!

I also ordered Godmersham Park, watching 2weeks after you posted your video. It was 71% off on Amazon. I also subscribed to your KZbin channel, you’re so peppy and enthusiastic about reading, love it!

Aren’t those annotated versions great? I’m reading the Mansfield Park annotated version and once I get done I’ll reward myself by buying the Emma one. That’s my favorite Austen. I was thinking of reading Emma of 83 Street but I wasn’t sure if it would be good or not. I was a bit hesitant! I’ll look forward to your thoughts on it. I’m hoping to get my TBR video out in a few days. It’s a smaller one this year but I love reading Jane Austen! I love Dickens too - I was really sad when I finished them. I really enjoyed your video!

Yes! They are so wonderful. I’ll end up getting all of them that are available. I don’t think there’s one for Northanger. Dickens has my heart. I look forward to your Austen TBR.

I’m hoping to read nonfic Jane & Dorothy, reread Jane of Lantern Hill, and maybe reread Jane Eyre. Just a Jane-name month. I reread Persuasion and S&S (me too!) earlier this year. 😅

That’s so fun! I love the Jane name theme! I reread Jane Eyre this past January and already want to reread it. 😂

lol! Whine about your daughters not having husbands!😂. Jane was Here looks like an adorable book. I read Mr Darcy’s Daughters and I think I gave it 3 stars. Elizabeth Ashton has at least 3 other P&P retellings and I thought they were all solid 3 stars.

I haven’t read a Jane Austen. Where should I begin?

Hi Grace! I think Pride and Prejudice is the place to start with Austen. And when you’re done reading it watch the Colin Firth BBC drama of it. Iconic!

What is a TBR? I what does it stand for??
@Bookslovejenna3 ай бұрын
@@beccafoster6527 Hi Becca. TBR is a quick way of referring to a stack of book you intend to read. It stands for “To Be Read”. Great question! I’m glad you asked. Each community on KZbin has kind of its own language don’t they?

I think it would be a good idea to google the pronunciation of automaton. The stress is on the second syllable, not the third.
@Bookslovejenna4 ай бұрын
Lisa - let’s keep the comments to ones that build up rather than break down. Thanks. You’ve already led in your comments with your loathing of Jane Eyre. Now you feel the need to correct my pronunciation? What exactly is the point of that? What do you hope to get out of this criticism? We play nice in the comments here and if that’s not in your wheelhouse you may find it more of a balm for your soul to not watch my videos. A little grace, compassion, and the ability to self-edit what one would like to say as opposed to what one actually says are greatly encouraged here. I seem nice…I AM nice…but I will not tolerate mean spiritedness to take root here.

@@Bookslovejenna You're correct about washing dirty laundry in private. Lisa is allowed to hate Jane Eyre if she chooses, and a correct pronunciation is important, as you would correct one of your girls misspelling that word as "mizzpell" (NOT to be confused with the famous Haitian curse-hurler), BUT Lisa ought to try to be more pleasant and measured, as you are. All your book recommendations sound interesting. Thanks.

@@kevinrussell-jp6om Thanks. I’ve just seen so much negativity in comment sections. I know this is very minimal but I refuse to let that kind of atmosphere find any purchase here - no matter how small.

@@Bookslovejenna I'm not finding fault and I get your viewpoint. It's your site and you should not have to put up with comments that piss you off. Because I am an old guy and not as sensitive as I should be, I easily find myself being argumentative just for the sake of stirring things up. But you have to understand that most times people don't want to read that, especially on mostly polite sites like this. When in Rome don't expect good pork fried rice, although you never know. If you can't say something pleasant, consider "zipping it", unless your middle name is Karen.
@Bookslovejenna4 ай бұрын
@@kevinrussell-jp6om not a fan of that term - Karen. It’s become just another one word insult for any woman that speaks her mind. It’s dismissive and reductive and like so much else in language doesn’t much mean what we think it means. Thanks for your thoughts and watching the video. Many watch - few comment. Lisa will be fine. I was just setting a boundary. I too am fine. No need for championing here. :) Best to you.
