I love your garden! It's an inspiration to me when I'm thinking about what to do with my cottage garden in England. You plant a lot in a small space and create your own little paradise. I do the same on ground level😊

Aww that makes my day to hear that 🥰! Cottage garden sounds so dreamy! Do you also grow plants in containers or mainly in the ground?

@17m2garden I grow a lot in pots. Visiting cats like to scratch and poo in the soil where I have plants growing in the ground. I have bees, butterflies, visiting birds and an army of slugs and snails that seem to be doing very well. The garden is small but its hard work!

My Hostas are blooming. I have 2 from my mom's house when she passed, (as well as an azalea). A Hosta Francee and a Van Zyverden Hosta. They come back each year in pots (10 yrs now) then I separate to plant within the yard. I love your 2nd clematis! Thanks for the strawberry info! I could spend DAYS just looking at your garden and stealing your information!😂😂

Wow, 10 years in pots, that's impressive! And so clever to divide them and transfer the extras into your flower beds! Never too many Hostas right? Awww haha that's truly a pleasure to hear, thank you 💚

So nice when you make a tour! The shade corner is looking so well and calming, the flowering plants are also beautiful, I can totally understand the problem with the purple clematis , because I have only 3 hours of sun too. It looks different in sun for 3 hours and the rest of the day it is so dark. Finger crossed with your dahlias and hope the rose remains a beauty and healthy. I had a blue hydrangea last year, I gave it fertilizer to stay blue , but not on regular bases (my fault) and now it is totally pink, haha, but a beautiful pink.

Thank you so much. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed this tour! That's right, it looks different in the sun than in the shade, those darker more saturated colors tend to visually "dissappear". Haha yeah that's the tricky part you gotta keep applying the product regularly, but they are lovely anyway, right?

I love how the smelly red flowers look like 😄 About the clematis I was wondering … maybe it will make a great contrast once the rose grows that high too ? Great news for your dahlias, rose, everything is growing nicely even though may wasn’t the easiest month 😊

Hi Maïa! Haha yeah they are very particular 😅! I think you're right maybe I'm just being a bit too impatient and it will look better once the Rose catches up and they blend together!

@@17m2garden But it's your balcony, do what feels right for you, I can't realise how much luminosity (or lack of) you have, it' s always nicely filmed so your balcony looks bright :)

Everything is so pretty! I love that purple clematis! I didn’t think my huechera would come back, but it did. It’s not growing very fast though. The wind and rain has been bad here too. 75mph wind this morning! Luckily I haven’t lost anything.

You are so talented! My patio is very similar to yours in terms how much of sunlight and shade it gets. I was really happy to see that you are growing blueberries and roses successfully. I am very keen to grow both but I thought it would be a waste of time and money. I would love to know more about growing blueberries in the shade.

Also lavender! Strawberries I'm certain won't thrive or produce great fruit but I'm trying it anyway 😅

Aww that's very kind of you! Blueberries are definitely worth giving a try, but you have to be patient if you start with young plants, they bear best on older branches (3 years and older). I had a really nice harvest this year! Alpine strawberries are great for shade and partial shade, but to my surprise I planted one strawberry and it bears fruit with only 4 hours of morning sunlight too 😍! Same for my one yellow cherry tomato - lots of ripe, yummy tomatoes on it!

I especially like the hostas, though everything is beautiful, or soon will be. I would like to find and purchase a Hosta variety with the word, AVOCADO, in the name.

Thank you so much! I'm also a huge fan of Hostas, so many beautiful ones to choose from! I have never heard of this one, so just googled Hosta avocado toast, such a stunner, and those red stems! Good luck finding it 🌿!

You are very talented with plane selection....I wish you could look after my balcony. Do you get much wind? I am on the fifth floor and find it so hard to grow anything due to the wind. I had a red Japanese Maple like yours but I had to give it away....between the sun and the wind it got totally scorched.
@17m2garden
@17m2garden 2 ай бұрын
So sorry to hear about your maple, but I can totally relate! Seventh floor here and same problem. Especially in the spring, it's our windiest time of year. The wind tossed my maple tree across the balcony more than once this past month, I'm surprised that the tree and the pot are still holding in one piece 🫣!

Sorry, I have another question 😅 Have you ever thought of growing star Jasmine on your balcony? I heard that they grow well even in part shade. I'm thinking of buying one.
@17m2garden
@17m2garden 2 ай бұрын
At this point I don't have enough space for another climber, but I'm not a fan of star jasmine 😅. We planted in on the sunny balcony (the balcony I take care of) and it didn't convince me for some reason haha

By the way, where are the slugs coming from? I never had slugs on my balcony.
@17m2garden

I think they most often come with plants, potting soil or organic matter, for example I use a lot of compost in my garden. Sometimes, if you're unlucky, you bring a plant home and realize there were loads of snail eggs in the soil (this happened to me recently 😅).

Hello just found your lovely channel and interested in your beautiful shady area - please can you tell me the name of the new Hosta that you mentioned you planted bare rooted? Also also can you tell me what the plant is in between the Hosta Royal and Hosta Halcyon please?

Hi! Welcome to our small gardening community ☺️! The new Hosta is called Whirly Pop, and the plant in between my Hostas is a lovely silver fern called Athyrium niponicum 'Metallicum' .

Lovely tour...amazing garden!😃👍 I'm excited to see what you do to add more space for edibles. Have you thought about growing micro tomatoes? You could grow 2 or more plants in one of your railing planters.🪴 Till next time.💕

Hi Valorie! How funny that you mentioned it, cause I ALMOST brought some mini tomatoes home with me last time haha! I've tried growing them years ago but it was a fail, I'm tempted to give them another chance though! Perhaps once I rearrange the space a bit better!
