I have a String shelving unit that has a desk attachment and I love it so much! It's perfect for small spaces. I got it because I just moved to a studio and I WFH so I needed a small desk. It looks beautiful and you can change the shelves around to whichever way you'd like. I got it in black, but they offer a bunch of different colors. They sell at DWR and some other places as well.

might be a little over the top for a rental but if you got LED track lighting and nestled it into the rock crevasse and lit up the surrounding walls from below. You probably would need supplemental lights on tables and such.

There are outside lights that are solar powered, you can stick them into the flower pots. Here in Germany we have different options, size- and stylewise. I am not sure if you have them in the US.

Another thought for your working from home set up could be a higher table/bench that you could place near the kitchen as more of an island. Get some bar stools that have cushions and backs so you can work for longer periods of time. Would also serve as extra bench space/working space for the kitchen as it looks like there's not much surface area there either! The danish secretaries are beautiful but so impractical to work at. I have short legs and I would not last 20 mins working at one of those haha

I always love hearing you talk about home projects! I'm moving soon to a space with an outdoor area and have been having the same hesitations re: string lights. Obviously the hay paper pendant is having its moment, but I can't help picturing it hung above the table on the roof - although in terms of practicality I imagine it would be somewhat of a hassle removing it when not in use to avoid rain/snow damage. Also like the idea of various portable/hay-esque/low lighting scattered around the perimeter of the roof and placed on the table. Also love the desk options - my only initial thought with the black pier unit would be it potentially visually competing with the staircase. Not sure if it would fit with your vision, but frama has a modular shelving system with a desk attachment that I think could look great in the space - either in stainless steel to tie in with the other steel in the space, or oak to add some warmth. Their rivet side table could also be a nice alternative to the hay slit table that could feel a little less cheap/more substantial. Both of these would obviously be splurges in terms of price. Excited to see how everything continues to come together!

So amazing. More women developers please. Like men are so weird like somehow they like make even an accessible platform narrow to like pigeon hole them to be Lena Dunham and friends. Which is not terrible but like we never get to the fact that women just want to learn the new science and tech and get paid.
