There is lots of reasons why to prefer Constrains; Constrain allows you to blend weight of following of object is one example.

Thanks for the tutorial mike! - is there a workaround for this when say, the ball is a referenced object (which means no parenting)? I've tried using an additional constraint (connecting the ball to the locator) but this breaks as soon as anything is keyed.

I believe you can key on and off the parenting effect on the timeline where you want the ball to exit the car. Just need to make sure the parent is keyed on for the first part of the animation.

If I wanted to do a similar thing with shoes on a model do I have to make them separate ? Can I link them to the feet somehow so the animator can just move the skeleton and move them along?

Hello, when I do an Orient Constraint of an object to a locator I can make it turn fine but only on his original position, if I translate the object and after that I translate the locator (so far this is what I want) I can not rotate any more on his one axis, the rotation is diferent

i am trying to rig a F 18 super hornet landing gear. I have everything modeled and now i need to rig it. So, the landing gear has hydraulics where the it pulls back and pushes the the wheel up in the ship.
