In three years, I went from having absolutely no experience in 3D Animation to working at DreamWorks Animation Studios teaching just about all of the 3D software used to make movies! After 2 years there, I left to try freelance / independent content creation on KZbin for awhile, before I head back to Feature Film!
This is my journey- the entire process from when I decided I wanted to be an animator until I eventually get there, and everything along the way that will make it possible.
Whether you're chasing a similar dream, or just interested to see where mine takes me, subscribe to follow along with the incredible journey that it takes to become an animator!
You will not be disappointed.

Oh my! Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge, Sir Wade. About the scripts- Yes please, a video about the scripts and a general idea of how someone without any knowledge in coding can make scripts would be very helpful. Thank you very much again
@morbid1.
@morbid1. 5 жыл бұрын
most scripts are in python... if you want to write one you need to get into python coding. That is why "technical animator" or "technical artist" exists, it's a programmer who makes tools for artists.
@SirWade
@SirWade 5 жыл бұрын
@@morbid1. Not necessarily, I use a ton of scripts but I don't know python- I just use basic MEL scripting (I'd love to learn Python but haven't made the time yet) But yeah python is great if you're going to make real tools instead of basic scripts

Thank you for sharing some new helpful scripts! Aaron Koressel is a boss. I have used his scripts for a decade, but I am pumped to get some new time-savers in there. I also use X-Mouse button control to assign keys to my scroll wheel. Scripts like ackPushPull or scrubbing through the timeline are performed with a roll of the mouse wheel. It is quick and tactile. As others have pointed out, it is very surprising that Maya is not creating robust tools like this off the shelf. Especially considering that animation is so time consuming :/ where you at autodesk? Blender is pulling ahead in modeling pipeline...

it depends where you work but scripts are super helpful... simple humanoid rigging tool saves so much time I work in game dev so different "in house" scripts/tools are quite common and they make life easier.

Hi @sirwadefx, I've been gaining lots of insight from your yt channel. Thank you! With regard to the cleverKeys scripts, can you clarify something I can't seem to find in the documentation or online? Is there supposed to be a GUI for it? Or once I've set up the script, I'm just setting it to a hotkey (as suggested "S") and then maybe add that to my shelf, and that's it? Thanks in advance!

Is there a script to offset animation? For example, if I'd like to make an animation with 100 characters walking but want them to be walking at different times, there's gotta be a script out there that can offset the animation of each character without me having to go in the graph editor and drag around keyframes manually, right?

ViewSwitcher doesn't remember Show settings. Basicly, your shotCam shows only polygons, maybe lights but no controls and etc and this script switches to another view with setting from previous view. This is a minus as for me.

Nice video. Here's the thing........ These tools ought to come with maya OUT OF THE BOX. The idea of having these funky scripts with different interfaces on a shelf somewhere....that need to be installed and updated every time a new maya gets released is SHIT. If you spend 2 - 3 grand on Maya..... you ought to have the tools to animate. Especially seeing character animation is supposed to be one of maya's strongest features.
