The input rule * _n* is too broad! It would match the _n in a filename like character_new_diffuse.png. A better rule would be * _n.*

I've seen people also select Alpha as Luminance in addition to changing the color space to RAW. Not sure if this is the proper step...

Actually, same here... Could you please make a tutorial on how to shade the hair, maybe arnold and vray if possible. Especially daz3d characters... I render them in daz they look amazing... Sadly i am not achieving the same look in maya. It would be highly appreciated. Thanks for your tutorials

So why can't Maya define a rule, that ANY INPUT into any shader INTO NORMAL, BUMP or DISPLACEMENT section will be treated as RAW by default? I wonder how complicated you guys think. Of course name rules have downsides, because you haven't always control about the naming. You need to rethink the complete Maya workflow with fresh heads. Many things are much more complicated than they need. You often invent just another workaround instead of solving or improving the real issue.

What issue are you experiencing specifically? Does it render black or is there artifacting?
