Thank you for the tutorial, it works great! One small correction though, when you add the nodes in the node editor you say to click on the geometry but actually click on the joint.

2020 Maya lt user here the skinning part wasn't working for me until I looked closely at his settings be sure your on the closest distance option otherwise it does absolutely jack all thought id save others the confusion great vid by the way :3

also in 2020 version the scale constraint and the scale option in the nodes is non existent it seems

I was wrong just the scale options are inside the nodes now you have to hit the little plus boxes

Wow! Can't we use the power value from a separate multiply divide node for the stretch Y an Z? As Y=1/√stretch scale X?

Hello could you please help me? How can I do to add a controller that allows me to manipulate the rotation apart from the master controller. Your tutorial was very useful but I want to do the rig with another object, a wooden spinning top. In my country it's called trompo, and it´s a traditional game.

Use master ctrl as rotate ctrl for the top. Add one more ctrl on top of it as master ctrl.

Did you hide scale channels? If so, in channel box menu, open channel control and unhide scale channels.
