As someone who has been listening to Bob Dylan's music all of my life, it's always shocking to realize there are so many alive today who know absolutely nothing about him. Kudos to the producers and cast of the film for telling his story.
@j.c98520 күн бұрын
I have too, how hard can it be to read a book, wikipedia or listen to an album and discover who he is when he is undoubtedly one of the most influential and acclaimed songwriters in music history? I don’t understand why people need a movie to be introduced to someone’s music. It’s just like everyone’s late to the party all the time when it comes to music.
@GaryDouglas-lj5bz20 күн бұрын
@@j.c985 The problem is that most people are too lazy to read the stories of people they don't already know or to listen to the music of singers they don't know. A real wake-up call for me is watching people in their 20's and 30s react to the original "We Are the World" music video. Everyone knew who Michael Jackson was, many knew Kenny Rogers, but no one knew who Bob Dylan was. Equally shocking is that so few knew who Bruce Springsteen was and I don't think a single reactor I have seen watch that video (and I've watched dozens of them) could identify Dionne Warwick!
@j.c98520 күн бұрын
@@GaryDouglas-lj5bz I agree, it’s irritating to me because I’m 25 but I really love music and always have. Not to sound conceited but when I try to have a conversation with anyone my own age about it, they don’t have a clue what I’m talking about or scoff when I bring up music artists from the past, in addition to this if I try and play them a record, they just talk over it. I went off my own back and purchased as many books as I could find about music history in the rock and pop era and songs and albums. I just don’t think you can claim you really love music or have a valid opinion on it if you haven’t heard the best of what it has to offer and don’t want to learn
@GaryDouglas-lj5bz20 күн бұрын
@@j.c985 And expanding one's musical horizons works both ways! You're 25 and willing to discover the great music of the past. I'm 78 and thrilled to be discovering the great world music of the present and the future---especially Dimash who is commonly regarded as the best singer on the planet---and perhaps ever---and yet who is still largely unknown (outside of youtube) in the western world because of the willingness of many to be satisfied absorbing the mostly mediocre music they are being force fed by the music industry. Dimash (and others) should be household names in the US but as the rest of the world listens, Americans miss out. In the case of Dylan, generations have missed out. So happy for you that you haven't. He has been so much a part of American's history--not just its musical history, but its overall experience.
@maledge10747 күн бұрын
There are people who grew up in the '60s and '70s who don't know much about Dylan due to their musical tastes as young people. So I don't think it's fair to expect a young person today to know that much either. I give him kudos for immersing himself into the role and learning all he could about Dylan.

I think from the part about the mustache (lol I know) is where we actually saw him like the real him like his guard's being dropped, I mean those few seconds of silence are everything that you need to know 😂 (also should I mention Josh's wheezing laugh that's golden) and that happened not once but TWICE lol. Then the snippet about his upcoming franchise works in which he didn't even have to try being diplomatic about it but his face trying to look neutral or not giving things away actually gave him away if you get what I mean.. like they said we can see right through it 😅 anyway he obviously was committed and passionate about this project and I hope that it'll do well. I think the round of promotion was unique (heard that he contributed in planning the around-towns events so that's cool) to get more people to be interested in it and seems to be working. I also look forward to what he'd give us in the future.

I love how he visually looks like the most recent character he's working on in real time when he is advertising for the finished release of the last project. Felt similar when the cast of "Little Women" and "Dune" were doing press and he definitely had some Dylan visual aesthetic in some interviews both style and hair wise!

I can't really believe fame wouldn't be sort of a personal "entry points" for Chalamet with Dylan, although I understand it's a difficult subject to adress publicly, because you don't want to seem to be whining about an effect of your success... But going into a room, every room almost, and everyone looking at you, potentially wanting something from you, eyes in a kind of impermeable mode of attention, having that image in their mind - which is what both of them have been experiencing from a damn young age - must pose a twisted kind of challenge on integrity and worldview.

Wtf are you talking about. The Theo von podcast wasn't an interview. @bellesvideos957829 күн бұрын
@@Unaobradisfruta and you can figure out that someone is a horrible person cuz they went on long form podcasts? did I miss something? like I said the podcast is a very different type of environment because of the person opposite him or the nature of what the convo feels like. he also has a long apple interview on his work which has a very different vibe to it as well cuz he simply talks about his work and his approach to work and I think that interview is actually longer than the podcast. also his last interview with josh is also long. my point is why is this being said under HIS interview in particular cuz nothing I've seen of him, long or short show that he's a horrible person in any way. it shows how multifaceted he is especially when thrust in different environments and its been constant his entire career.
