We took the Crush to Clayhill in Attwood TN to find out how our front end set up changes worked. Adjusted it a couple times during the night and by thte end of the night I felt like we had gained some ground.

Nice run sir. I'm going to be racing the duel in the desert in las vegas this year in an imca stock car. #177 your channel has helped me a ton understanding things I was on the fence with. I've ran a bad to the bone pinto, sport mod, A mod. With lots of success in each. This stockcar stuff has been challenging. I found speed and 1 feature win the first day of our last event. I'm trying to apply what I've learned to this vegas trip. My first 1/2 mile track.

Great job! I have a question for you. I’m not a dirt guy, ex assault guy. Went you tighten up the chain on the left front, did that put preload on the spring as well as changed ride height? Dirt is a whole different thought process to me. Sorry
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE 9 ай бұрын
No it did not, you wont get any preload until the car is pulling against the chain even while sitting still.

Good job buddy at track didn't look very good but good job on the second-place finish. I see a lot of these IMCA guys aren't grooving tires anymore they're just siping them because the amount of tread that an entire anyways they don't like grooving home cuz you're taking rubber away from the tires nursing that's less contact to the track so that's why they're just siping them and then grinding them a little bit but thanks for the video Bud good luck on your next race get that w

yes, I suspect thats the thought behind using the #1 blades in the S-100. cut grooves so small they dont hurt you on giving up rubber.

Im not sure on your rules but front and rear spring table should be something to look into. Before the rule change we ran 11in 200-250 RR spring and up to 15in 125 spring LR (no weight jacks allowed) and it was hooked even in the slick. You have the right idea on the front end just looks like you need more overall rear grip.

i finally got an engineered understanding of how a spring table works. yes, now I have a 16" LR and 13" RR

The way your waiting to pickup the throttle. I have to learn when the car wants that. Last race heat I was very fast. 9th to 4th. Side by side for third at the flag just ran outta laps. Car was perfect, feature time it had a strongggg exit push on throttle I wasn’t waiting getting it pointed where it needed to go.

I see your using one hand to steer your car are you using a 12:1 or a 18:1 steering gear ???
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Жыл бұрын
Its a 12.7 to 1 on a 2-1 quick steer so a bit over 6 to 1 ratio. I have always focused on keeping my left hand on the wheel and using my right hand for everything else (tearoffs, brake bias, etc)

That's the type/surface that we run on up here... I'd love to hear your setup and compare with ours... sounds like you're having to wait on getting back into the throttle...
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Жыл бұрын
yeah, there was a constant layer of loos material chipping up off the corner so would would have to wait to get through it and then throttle up as I got into clean track.
@RichFife

@DIRTRACELIFE we found an aggressive setup with a decent amount of droop on the left side and soft lr spring preloaded, helps. We run anywhere from a 200-225 on the rr with minimal preload (on the chain)... we call this surface a sandy river silt... slick as pig shit when wet and then dusty/sandy/slick when dry.
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE Жыл бұрын
so hears a question about having the chain slack drawn up on the RR. if you hit a rut does it make the car dart to the right on you? it does me and others say this is the affect as well but I do wonder if there are other factors involved I am not aware of.
@RichFife
@RichFife Жыл бұрын
Damn, getting back to your question... no, our cars are stable for the most part... we can hit bumps and ruts and the cars are typically smooth as glass unless we have binds. How stiff of a compression do you have for the LR... we have some where it feels as if you're moving the earth instead of the shock when trying to compress it... our rebound is fast... up-front, we run stout tie-downs... finding balance in any setup is most important.
@DIRTRACELIFE
@DIRTRACELIFE 11 ай бұрын
yes same here, 550lbs of compression on the LR with a ridiculous amount of gas. I am running a 500lb rebound RF. I have an 800lb as well but it seemed to hold the bite off too long and made me struggle getting off the corner.
