I never knew the context of this song; I'd only heard it on album recordings before. This performance genuinely made me start *crying* and I got chills at "bound to begin"

Lol wtf is the applause at the end of this? This needs a standing ovation. Sounds like people clapping as they introduce dogs on a dog show

No contest. And yet there are many superb renditions but this stands out in so many ways. Megan's performance is the topper!

OMG !!! How I love the ending when you chose not to belt it out, but used your mixed head voice, and by that, made it so fregile and human and hurting!!! Girlllll, you nailed it!! BRAVA!
@stevepotfora74612 жыл бұрын
@@erezmor4u a wonderful performance indeed.. The ending was created for Natasha Richardson in the second Broadway revival. She did not have the vocal prowess to belt out the end so this musical apology happened which makes it possible to cast non-singers in the role... Not that Megan could not belt if she wanted to . It has to do with the new orchestration that does not allow this.

This is a good rendition equal to many of the versions done by the most famous Broadway voices of our time. There's another recent version from and unlikely place the TV series "Schitt's Creek" Emily Hampshire as "Stevie" playing Sally Bowes in an amateur production of "Cabaret". It's quite gripping.

Miss Megan - Everybody and their brother is familiar with Audra's, Kristin's and Liza's version of this song, and they argue back and forth as to which one is better, as you probably know. But you have taken this to an entirely different level with this interpretation and performance, especially since you included the scene leading up to the song in order to add the context in which it's sung. In addition, I must say that it's really refreshing to hear an alto's voice, rather than an ear-piercing soprano, especially on the chorus. Finally, the way you performed the closing "maybe I'll win" was absolutely superb. Excellent, excellent performance, Miss Megan!

This is the kindest compliment I could have ever gotten. Truly, this production meant so much to me I wouldnt even be able to describe. This performance was over a year ago now, and when I read your comment I cried the happiest of tears. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This was very special to me.

@@MeganMeyer You are totally welcome! As a woodwind player that's sat in the pit of many a musical theater production, I react to performances differently than most folk do. Thus, when I comment, I comment from that perspective - as someone who's BTDT and understands the work involved in such productions. Kudos to you and the director for "changing it up" to provide the audience with a magnificent performance.

I must agree here. I have watched a number of these now as you mentioned as well and her additions to this role were wonderful as well as adding the context beforehand. Its a sincere performance and more believable that you were actually there.

[Verse] Maybe this time I'll be lucky Maybe this time he'll stay Maybe this time, for the first time Love won't hurry away He will hold me fast I'll be home at last Not a loser anymore Like the last time and the time before [Pre-Chorus] Everybody loves a winner So nobody loved me 'Lady Peaceful', 'Lady Happy' That's what I long to be [Chorus] Well, all the odds are, they're in my favor Something's bound to begin It's gotta happen, happen sometime Maybe this time I'll win [Pre-Chorus] 'Cause everybody, they love a winner So nobody loved me 'Lady Peaceful', 'Lady Happy' That's what I long to be [Chorus] Well, all the odds are, they're in my favor Something's bound to begin It's gotta happen, happen sometime Maybe this time Maybe this time I'll win

Just wanted to drop in the comments and tell you how much I LOVE your performance!! :) I had heard people fawning over Kristin Chenoweth's and Audra McDonald's renditions of this song, but I never cared for them. They felt way too "showy" for what is supposed to be a more emotionally raw number, and their incessant vibrato and soprano voices just never felt right for this song. However, I completely got that emotion from you. Yours is the only version of this song that made me emotional, and your voice is so incredible. Amazing job!
