This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. There are actually three verses which Thom wrote for this song. I wrote a fourth verse and sent it to Thom and he told me that he liked it. Here are all of them: (by Thom Pace) 1. Deep inside the forest is a door into another land, Here is our life and home. We are staying Here forever in the beauty of this place, all alone. We keep on hoping… Ref: Maybe, there’s a world where we won’t have to run And maybe, there’s a time we’ll call our own, Living free in harmony and majesty. Take me home, Take me home. 2. Walking through the land where every living thing is beautiful, Why does it have to end? We are calling Oh, so sadly, on the whisp’ring of the wind as we send A dying message… 3. Dreaming of another time, when we could walk with dignity feelin’ the morning sun We are waiting for the summer to remind us someday when we share the world, won’t hurt. (by Terry Hoffman) 4. Way up in the mountains is a world within another world, Peace, solitude and calm. Here’s existence, far removed from woes and tragedies of life, it’s for us. We all are praying…

Mr. Pace, I just wanted to thank you for posting this. It took me right back to the simplicity and peace of being 8 years old and dreaming of living in the woods with grizzly bear. I knew this song by heart as a kid and I still know it. As stated before, Grizzly Adams wouldn’t have been the same without your talents. Please know you greatly impacted a young boy in Phoenix, AZ in the late 70’s Thank you for this gift.

Its so hard to stand, to hear what mankind all has destroyed. That really hurts... I always said, we are all in paradies on this world but make it to hell for 99% of people. Thats no dignity. I held 12 out- dying sorts of sheep and goats (400 pieces) and the federal state Stuttgart and Esslingen am Neckar promised to pay me and the needed material und let me work 5 Years without paying a single day or material an then plowed my pastures to earth and stole all my animals by lying. They didn' t want to pay their owes. I don' t know where my animals are, they were as tame as Ben... heared of their names, I spoke their speech I think they killed most of them

This song has been an inspiration since I first heard it in my childhood and it has lost none of its poignancy - on the contrary, I find it even more striking now. To top it off, this is the first time I've heard the longer version - so far I only knew the shorter version used in the TV series. As a non-native speaker, I'm still trying to figure out the final words of the 2nd stanza .. when we shared a world of (warmth?) Thank you and best wishes from Austria

I used to watch the Grizzly Adams show as a child & teenager in the late 70s and early 80s, primarily just to hear this song. I never knew there was more to the song than what was in the TV show. And I never knew who sang it until I found all the fan videos on KZbin in recent years. Of course I also loved the show, very, very much. But if I'd had to choose between the "Maybe" song and the Grizzly Adams show, I would have chosen to listen to the song for the whole hour, especially if it were accompanied by beautiful scenes from the show. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've listened to your song for a whole hour at a time before on KZbin. It's like John Denver music, it's hard to get enough of it.

I was 8 in1979. I shared your song with my 16 year old for 2 reasons. This song helped me when I was little. My father was an alcoholic but also absent in the wilderness himself. Colorado and deep forests. Long story short he didn't get to say goodbye on his deathbed. This song has helped me find a lot of closure. In memoriam... Sometimes the best that a man will ever do will be in the children he leaves behind. When my time comes this will be one of those songs to celebrate my life regardless of how sad my father led his own. Just a classic and a beauty.

I first heard this song sung by a few people sitting around a camp fire somewhere up a mountain in the Austrian alps after a hard day planting young trees after a storm. I felt so connected to nature and the world around me and then this song... The right music at the right time can have such an impact on a teenager. Since I know only the first and third verse of this song and I am not a native English speaker, I would be very thankful for the full lyrics, especially the second verse. (Maybe in the description?)

Thom, this is one of the most beautiful songs that harkens to the human spirit of freedom and of humanity's connection with the natural world. I loved the show, Grizzly Adams, but a big part of this show was your wonderful theme song. It inspires; it paints a picture of beauty and peace, and it truly lifts my spirit every time I hear it. You sing beautifully, that soaring and soothing tenor touches the soul. You also play the piano so beautifully. Your technique is supple; your playing is wonderfully textured; the rhythm is spot on; you embellish tastefully, and your articulation and phrasing gives sparkle, color, and life to the lyrics, and your powerful chord progressions and the use of diminished sixths -- I think I detected some -- and sevenths adds wonderful harmony and gravitas, and your creative interludes adroitly connects the verses. Thank you so much for posting this. Oh, and I was so thrilled to hear another verse. So much meaning and story telling going on.

I just tried singing the "original" melody to your version. Not always fitting perfectly, but in general a wonderful duet!

Thanks for the live treat! Did you ever consider a duet with Mike Batt? Would be two very interesting voices.
