I used to hate the Maybelline superstays because of the stickiness. then someone told me the secret: you need to lick your lips after you let it dry for 2 mins. idk why but it works!

These lipsticks are the only ones I own besides lip balm, I hate matte cracked dry lips and I don't like the short wear time of a lipgloss. But god those lipsticks feel and look so good on me. I would recommend to someone who likes comfort and long wear time and not sinking in the lines of the lips and looking 100 years old 😊

Yeah they might be better on people with drier lips, on my normal lips so many formulas look and feel a lot better

Having hit 40, I'm ecstatic that I've finally found a long wear lippie that suits my Sahara lips. For me, it's the Lip Clays. I love their muted undertones with a soft matte finish and extensive range of cool tone options. I prep with a lip treatment or balm and after eating, a cheeky wee swipe of balm smooths everything over again, allowing the lip to fade gracefully. Also no crumbles. I hate the crumbles. Never could wear traditional liquid lips, as they would crumble after mere minutes, or my lips would feel on fire and I'd have to remove them. I wasted so much money in my youth 😆

Maybelline really delivered. I love these , especially the shade range has the shades that you actually wear for long hours. Work place appropriate shades. The day I apply these , I never worry about touch ups.

You're the Queen of the red lip! 😘They're not my absolute favourite, but they're cheapish in the UK when on offer and I don't mind taking them places, because if I lose them I'd not be sad.🤷‍♀️ x

I actually don't mind this formula. I have a red and a couple of nudes and I find that if I apply a thin layer it lasts a bit better for me. I apply it in the morning, do a slight touchup at lunch and it lasts well through talking to patients all day through my 10+hr shift!

You can re apply, it remains sort of elastic. Not crumbly

Thanks for the honest review, had the same experience with Red Hot. I really love the color but had a better experience with the Risky shade. For some reason it doesnt bleed into the teeth, come off in chunks and spreads more evenly

I have one shade of this in Witty - an incredibly beautiful color I just love but I find after about 6 hours on me, the shine starts to look crackled and flakes off, so it is just matte. However, it reapplies very well without flaking the color off. I don't think I'll buy anymore shades but it does hold up in a mask if you want a stay put product that does not make your lips looks very dry and emphasize the lines.

Hi! Just thought I'd mention you aren't supposed to rub your lips together at all with these sorts of lipsticks until theyve dried, it can cause the stickiness and unevenness!

I get that, but you also need to apply it so it doesn’t look patchy and streaky. The key is to only move it around when it’s very wet and not while it’s in the process of drying - that’s when it can cause issues 😊

I love the wicked shade so so much, but I can’t get passed the stickiness. I was trying to get cat hair and I guess lint or dust particles floating through the air. So disappointing, I was even pulling my hair off all day. Why is it so sticky, is there anything to combat this?

The "ink" formula from Maybelline is just... sticky. The matte ones are sticky too. I do find if you sit in front of a fan for about a minute after applying, it helps the sticky go away without impacting comfort. That said, I've realized the sticky is what makes them comfortable to wear for hours and not have your lips feel like a parched desert. I'm not a liquid lipstick fan but when I want a black or a bright red, I prefer something that isn't going to smear during dinner. I'd honestly say the only reason to get one of these or the matte version is because you want a specific bright/dark color and want it to survive dinner intact. Definitely wouldn't buy full price, even stateside, and certainly wouldn't recommend anything other than a vibrant red or orange (or the black in the matte formula) as it's honestly overkill for a nude.

i know i'm late but here's a tip, apply the matte ink, let it dry for 30 sec then lick your lips, it helps keep the stickiness down

I have the Revlon version, and I know what you mean by the uneven, flaky wear down. The thing that I find most irritating is that when it starts to wear down you can’t just reapply over the top to it turns into a tacky balled up goopy uneven finish. I have to remove the old layer completely (which isn’t easy) before I can apply a new one. Having said that - I do find the lip vinyl look quite durable and fun. Just not sure if I’d repurchase.

I own several of these and usually apply after I line my lips. I like the dry down and the slow way that it wears off over time leaving a slight stain remaining on my lips. It doesn’t dry my lips and it’s pretty comfortable. I also always find that reds are not amenable to staying put no matter what the formulation. :(

I have one of the long wear Maybelline lipsticks and that Revlon one you didn’t like. They’re not my favourite. My absolute favourite long wear lipstick is the 2 step Rimmel Provocolips. They last all day, 12 hours, and are always comfortable on my lips.

I checked out some reviews because I wanted to see if others had the same experience that I did, and your video described my issues with these lipsticks perfectly! Subbed for your honest review! Not only were they difficult to apply, felt really heavy, I saw flakes on my teeth (this was the part I wanted to check), and also the lipstick on the inner lips disappeared very quickly after eating (just yogurt and a peanut butter sandwich). My colors were Unrivaled(30) and Coy(20). I was wondering if you have recommendations for a lightweight lipstick that stays on or at least fades gracefully over time?

I have a handful of these and I quite like them for what they are. I understand they are not for everyone and definitely have their drawbacks (the heaviness, the stickiness, etc). I have that red hot shade and while I really like the color the sheerness is annoying. Especially when I've found that this lip formula works best when you can apply 1 thin layer rather than having to build. I 100% have to use a lip liner to fully fill in my lips to combat it. Very disappointing. I can say the lighter more pink or nude leaning shades that I own don't have this issue but it doesn't matter if the product type isn't to someone's taste.

Not impressed with how the red looks compared to the two natural colours I have! Not even opaque, weird. I wouldn't want to layer that formula either. I'm happy with 10 Lippy (dark rose) and 120 Punchy (medium brown nude) because they're easy and longwearing. I bought the first one on sale because they're €17 in store here. The second I bought on holiday in Germany, they have new shades for around €10 I think. Love shopping for cosmetics in Germany 😅

I bought 3 shades. Peachy was the worst, after eating. It breaks up and I had ugly bits all over my lips..like dry peeling skin. So bad. Coy and wicked we’re fine. Buyer beware..so many reviews are lying about this product

I don't know what I'm doing wrong then, I have literally sat with a fan, trying to dry it out to set for more than 10 minutes straight. And it won't set. I'm not talking or putting my lips together. But after that, still it transfers onto my hand and my coffee cup. I'm disappointed. I despise matte lipstick {I like the look, but hate how they feel on me}. I had high hope after lots of reviews. 😐💋💄

The application sounds very similar to that matte version of the maybelline inks - stays tacky for ages, gathers in the middle etc - you have to faff/baby it to get it on but it does last. Effing drying though 😂

It's so interesting how different makeup wears on different people. I haven't tried this lipstick, but the Revlon version wears really well on me, whereas I tried the Tony Moly Shocking lip stain after watching your review and it wear worse than any lip product I've ever tried. It bleeds on me so badly, I've never experienced feathering like that with any lip stain ever, it also is very hard to get even and then it wears unevenly, looking so messy after just an hour or two. I was so confused, because it looks so great on you and it seemed to wear so well, but I've tried three times and it was almost embarrassing just wearing it around the house it looked so bad. Maybe my lips are dryer than yours

Yeah I don’t have dry lips at all so things definitely wear differently based on your body chemistry and lip texture. They are a stain so they are very watery and could definitely feather on people who have drier lips. Sorry to hear they were so bad on you! ❤️

I feel as though the performance and how it wears seems to vary depending on shade. I have Lippy, Witty and Cheeky and I find Witty is definitely my favourite in terms of wear. I usually use quite a thin layer and I find that helps with the flaking. These aren't perfect but are great for days I won't have time to reapply for quite a while. Matte liquid lips are too drying for me.

Holy shit, it is $26 Australian dollars? That is double the U.S. price!! For that price, make sure to shake the hell out of it to make it work its best. If it makes you feel any better in Australia, I would love to get my hands on some of your sunscreens, especially Ultra Violette; U.S. sunscreens are absolute shit. I use K Beauty sunscreens (Beauty of Joseon) right now, but can’t remember where I could get Ultra Violette sent to me.

But for the record, AU$26 isn’t the same as US$26… with currency conversion, AU$26 is US$18 and our prices include all taxes, and we have high minimum wage so things in general cost more. So there’s many reasons why our prices are different to the US prices 😊

I hated it! The application annoying. The wear was not fabulous. When I go out and about and don’t have time I want something kind of bomb proof. The Stila colour beso I love but it doesn’t stay as much as I’d like. I’m testing the urban decay today-hopefully it will stay and not look crap.

this is the best liquid lipstick out there!! it lasts all day and is not heavy or drying. your application method was flawed, you can’t keep going over this, it starts to dry immediately and you have to let it set up, which you didn’t and that’s why you had tiny flakes. lipstick on a tooth occasionally, has been around for centuries. you have to be precise with any red color and get it right the first time. perhaps you should use a liner or a lighter color. 3 minutes is fine with me to apply lipstick if it’s gonna last all day, which this one definitely does.

Agree to disagree. My application wasn’t flawed, it hasn’t dried yet and I needed to work at it to make it look even, otherwise it was streaky. I have since used it in a thinner application (which looked bad to be honest) and it wears the same. I’m glad you love them, but not everyone had to 😊

I have tried them, and they are not for me. I felt like I had to babysit it too much, as in making sure I didn't have flakes on my chin, on my teeth etc. I hated the way they felt and wore off too. Butthole lip! regular old bullet lipstick is just my jam these days.

I should have watched this before buying yesterday; not even 24 hours and I want to fling it out . Followed all suggestions in applying, tried 6 times and it transfers instantly, throughout the 2 hours, flakes and comes off everywhere. Tacky, heavy, drying, awful. Probably the worst lipstick in all my 5 decades.😩🤬😭
