Stroke and Coat is a stiff opaque glaze, so it really won't break over texture. You may find our stoneware glaze White Opal to be better suited for what you're looking for, however it does show more of the clay body when applied to dark clay: www.maycocolors.com/product/sw-250-white-opal/

Hi! I have a few questions. I used 4 different stroke and coat colours; café olé, vanilla dip, taupé and cotton tail. I did a gingham pattern with vanilla dip as a base, then I did a vertical line with taupé and a horizontal line with café olé (I applied 3 layers for the base and the lines as well). So now I have three questions: 1. I once fired up till 1240 C and café olé on its own turned out orangey, is that normal? 2. Café olé on top of vanilla dip went blurry and turned out green, can this be caused because the layer underneath wasn’t fully dry maybe? Or do you think there is another cause? 3. The lines went vague, I aplied 3 layers on top of vanilla dip, so you know how this can be prevented? 4. I want to do a gingham print again with green, pink and white (cotton tail) is it possible to get bright coloured lines when I apply 3 coats and fire to 1240 C? I hope you have the time to answer my questions, it would help me a lot! Kind regards, Nika

Hi, thank you for all informations, im new to ceramics and starting at home in this corona time. So I can paint patterns and details with the Stroke & Coat, is exactly what im looking for. I have some questions about the process that can help me to finish my order online: 1. Stroke & Coat is a better option as the underglaze if I want a gloss finish because I can fire the piece just one time? 2. If I want to apply a foundation and after the Stroke & Coat on top, can I also apply the foundation on bone dry or greenware an the Stroke & Coat on top? 3. What Im looking for is to find a process to fire my pieces just one time, because I have to drive to fire my pieces. My goal ist to have a foundation color, paint some details on top and have a gloss finish. What do you recommend? 4. Can I also apply it after bisque and then a transparent glossy glase on top of it? 5. Can I paint it after bisque, over a white gloss glaze as well? Thank you for your time, i'm looking forward to hear from you.

@MaycoColors3 жыл бұрын
@@emanuelapietrobelli4017 So you are planning to just do a single firing to 1050C? Stroke and Coat can be once fired and it will produce a gloss finish, but you will want to be sure to leave at least 1/3 of the piece unglazed to leave space for outgassing or it is likely you will experience pinholes. The answer is the same for the Foundation and Stroke and Coat question; be sure to leave space for outgassing. You are correct in selecting these products for this process, but if you want the whole thing glazed (which you will if you are planning to use these for food surfaces), we would recommend to just bisque fire your piece first and then glaze the entire piece with Foundations and Stroke and Coat for the bisque firing. Stroke and Coats are compatible with a clear glaze and to be applied over another glaze, but keep in mind the pigments in pinks and purples can react with a clear glaze so they might bleach out a bit. We hope this helps!

@MaycoColors2 жыл бұрын
It can be either a dipping or a brush on clear. Just make sure the clear glaze is the right one for what temperature you are firing to. We don't typically suggest a clear glaze for mid-range to high fire when using stroke and coat as it can cause blurriness. If you are doing low-fire we have a few options for low-fire clear glazes on our website.

So the glaze will be mature after the bisque firing, but if the clay is a cone 6 body, it clay will need to be fired to cone 6 to be mature. @@kristagarcia9312 it sounds like all of the products you are using are for cone 06. If you fire them to cone 6, they will all perform differently than they would at cone 06. If your clay body is cone 6 (stoneware/midrange), it will be underfired at cone 06 (earthenware/low-fire) and less durable in an underfired state. It sounds like you should be using a cone 06 clay body for what you are trying to do and given the products that you are using. That being said, either way, you will want to wait to apply a clear coat until after you bisque the pieces and then do a glaze firing.
