Bought one of these adapters a few months ago and its been absolutely rock solid. My DualShock 3 broke not too long ago and rather than fork out the money for a "new" one, thought I'd just get this so I could use one of my Xbox One controllers on it instead. Works without any fuss.

Did you plug it into the USB-A port on the NGASP, or did you use a USB-C adapter to plug it into the normal P2 port? Also, were you able to use more than 4 buttons?

@@mysterychimp007 You can use either the USB-A port on the back or the USB-C port on the front with a USB-A to C converter. Only the 4 face buttons work. The Neo Geo only had 4 buttons.

SonicFanChris 4 the hylo hack lets you put on games that have more than 4 buttons. Anyway, I bought this and tried it with the retrobit 6 button genesis controller and it doesn’t do anything at all. What controllers did you try it with? I tried updating the firmware but the updater does not recognize the device even if I hold the button down. Any ideas?

I love this device, because it also works for my Hori Project Diva Future Tone Arcade controller and now I am able to use it on the Nintendo Switch as well with Project Diva Mega Mix. Took me some time to get it to work, but overlooked the small text in the manual many times telling me to activate wired mode in the settings.

Pro can be inserted into a PS4 or Switch console, NS doesn't support PS4 consoles, and S doesn't support Nintendo Switch consoles. Apart from those exceptions they support the same consoles (e.g. PS3, PS Classic, Neo Geo Mini, PC etc.) and the same controllers (both wired and with Bluetooth). Also the Pro detects what console it is plugged into and swaps automatically, whereas the S and NS need to have their console mode switched via the button on the adapter.

@Madlittlepixel Does it work on 5.05FW I have 4.73FW and can't update to 5.05 yet because I don't have the OFW file yet. also I have not updated my magic-s controller adapter. It worked for 3 minutes on my 7.51FW black ps4 then shutoff each time I had to unplug it, but people said updating the controller adapter would fix the issue. So the error could be mine idk. I'm ok with getting a Cronus max or Cronus zen if any of those work on 5.05FW. They're expensive though...

I bought it originally to keep the PS4 Pro from getting dirty and scratched easily. My other PS4 is scratched up quite a bit from just regular use. This does the job of not allowing anything on or near it so it doesnt get scratched or scuffed, but for sure dust still gets in there due to all the ventilation holes, but that is to be expected. Not really something extremely useful lol.

I know, old video, but new question... :) The S-Pro is now up to firmware 1.10, and the NS is now up to firmware 1.32. From the firmware descriptions, it seems like they now both have identical feature sets -- they can both do basically everything. Any chance you can test and compare those two to see if that is indeed the case? Thanks, and great video!

I'm gonna be honest I have heard this before but am not sure what the deal is? Do you mean after 10 minutes of use it would time out and no longer be synced as a controller to the PS4? I have used it to play for well over 10 minutes of continuously playing and didn't have an issue, the controller continued to work fine. Now if its timing out when not in use, not registering button presses, I have not tested that. But if there is anything specific youd like me to test let me know in a reply here and I will test for you.

@@Madlittlepixel yes. Basically the PS4 checks for authorization on the controller every 10mins. I have a Titan One adapter, and it basically will simulate a quick plug in and out at the 10min mark, making the game pause for a brief second, and you're back to playing like normal. The Brook adapter negates this (but they are reverse engineering the pad's security hence why they do the separate adapters for sale), the CronusMax Plus bypasses this in an odd way using an USB hub, a controller you want to use and the PS4 pad hooked up to the hub and then to the CronusMax. It's a PS4 only issue, the Xbox and switch don't recheck authorization every 10mins. If you play any PS4 game for longer than 10mins, see if it pauses the game briefly, and goes back to normal or if it will act normally like a PS4 pad does (or the Brook adapter), bypassing the check.

For me the neo geo arcade stick worked with the magic s pro on the switch, ps4 and genesis mini, but not on the ps1 classic mini 😅 I also tried on the pc engine mini, but here the light from the stick doesn't seem to get enough power and I am using a 5V with 2A AC. LATER: I found out now, why it was not working on the ps1 classic, i had to hold 3 seconds the mode button, to manually switch into ps1 classic mode (blue-light) and it worked perfect
