Mind Turd same goes for some moths which emerge mouthless and starve after mating, but mayflies have the shortest adult lifespan. However as nymphs they live several years.
@bo-dine79712 жыл бұрын
@@theworthysoul They don't really starve per-se, because they do not have a feeding function any longer, they do not feel hunger, which comes from certain hormones, so they more just run out of energy and collapse, I don't know how it would feel but it wouldn't be as horrible as starving to death for for the larvae or us.

So, if you do, then tell me how the relativity theory is relevant to mayfly's lifespan.

IO9802 Sorry, I understand how you can mistake that original comment. Time relativity is not exactly what I was mentioning, there's a link above that simplifies it much more. The theory I was addressing was Paul Janet's theory of Time Perception. Have a nice day :)

When fishing the river at night I have had so many of them stuck to my lantern that they blocked out the light. One night we were going a few miles up river in our 16' boat, and we had a big light bar in the front and when we got to our destination the mayflys were 4" deep in the bottom of the boat. There were probably 50 pounds of dead Mayflys in there and I had to clean them out and boy did they start to stink after a couple of days.
