I love yours and Ivan’s channels. They are like a continuation of Alaska the last frontier. I think y’all have a piece of equipment for everything you need to do on your farm. If you done have what you need to do a job you build it. That takes a lot of skill. You and Ivan are great at building things. Some of the equipment you have may be old but they still have a lot of life left in them and they get the job done. They will last for many more years with regular maintenance.

Hey Otto, I really enjoyed watching that. At 78 years old now, and a female, I remember back when I was 20 and working on the farm in Fallon Nevada. We were billing one afternoon and quit for the night. The next morning, I went out early and forgot to release the tensionon the Baylor and I bailed up for bales that weighed over 250 pounds, lol. It took four of us with hooks on each corner to put it on the flatbed trailer. You can be sure I never forgot to check attention before I bailed again.

The hay grappler is way cool! According to Wikipedia the square baler was invented in 1872 by Cyrus McCormick. Otto and Eivan just gave a lesson on how a square baler works! Interesting stuff. I saw a generational transfer of “tweaking knowledge” too. Square bales are great in feeding horses when you can break off the sections of the bale for individual horse feeding.Love the content- from a man Otto’s age.

I loved the video and the farm work that was done. It makes me remember my younger days when I would drive the tractor and help load the hay bales. We had a bale loader that was like an elevator. It was hitched to the side of the trailer, and I would drive the tractor along the line of finished hay bales. I would align the elevator with the bales like a slalom contest depending on the angle of the bales which was a little tricky at times, but fun too. I was only 11 at the time and I was driving a very old John Deere Tractor. Oh, what memories. I guess your fix to that rod from the baler worked, but you didn't spend much time being excited about it. I wasn't sure how it fixed the problem with tying the knots on the bales. And that device that Ivan built (which I saw in the original series) is just terrific as a loader. Which brings me to the closing point - Otto, your land and scenery are just fantastic.

Mechanic farmer from ND to mechanic farmer in AK, playing Monday morning QB I know, an airplane style safety wire through the nut or better still use a roll pin inserted into the thru hole drilled into nut and bolt on broken baler pipe. Scissor lift on your truck is genius. Trip rope was better than the bale conveyor Dad n uncle replaced it with. Beer never tasted better at the end of them days. Glad to see your people are healthy and flourishing.

We have the same bailer. We need new needles keep busting shear pins. So this last cut we used our new idea soft core round bailer. Such a awesome bailer. Even better not netting. We use 9600 twine for our square bailer. If your needles are warm down they won't knot properly. Wish we were neighbors. My husband would totally brainstorm

Enjoyed watching you figure out and make the baler work. You remind me of an elderly friend I used to work with many years ago. He was a cattle farmer and he baled lots of hay in square bales. Then along came the round bales. They make it a lot easier if you have the proper equipment. I will be watching future content. Until next time stay safe.
