I love this! I didn’t know about the app until last week. Hubby got me the Joy for Christmas and when I made my first card last week, I was so disappointed. I tried three times and the card kept moving during cutting! I was heartbroken. Then, you guessed it. I saw the directions to remove the cover on the card mat! 😂😂😂 Now, I’m in business. You are truly heaven sent! I have watched your videos for years and absolutely love every one of them. I got a Cricut Joy for Christmas and downloaded the Design Space app, only to be frustrated with the functionality for Cricut Joy. Having found this video has been a lifesaver - because I now have realized that the Cricut Joy app is there for a reason and you have made it so easy to understand and I can see the functionality is truly geared for the Joy. Dear Maymay, I still have the same spatula as yours and my original Expression machine. 😊 My sweet Sister got me a Cricut Joy for Christmas so I am still learning how to use it. Your videos are SUPER helpful for me. I also have horrible penmanship so the writing feature is amazing. I never thought to use it for addressing my envelopes. Hi Maymay! I’ve had my Joy since the beginning, but just saw the upgrade app about ten days ago. I was making 50 Joy cards for my granddaughter last week, so was so pleased to see the set ups for the insides of cards! They turned out awesome and I got to use my Joy glitter pens and metallic pens! Glad you like the Joy too. Makes awesome Christmas cards too!

Thanks for this. Didnt know there was an app. FYI I know if you put a box around your writing or design you can move it around the envelope or card..that way you can center it better then you wont have the cut or writing off that little bit.

I am very interested in a Cricut Joy, and yes, I have been doing my research. I enjoy making cards for my friends and family and I love technology , my interest is in the Cricut Joy. Since your Joy doesn't align correctly, can you add a wider "margin" on that side so that it cuts and writes with a better alignment? Is this a common problem with Joy machines? That would irritate me, big time! Thanks for all the great info.

I’m having the same problem and I just realized that the mats are off. My cards won’t go all the way to the blue line. Since it’s 1 AM, I’m going to wait and call Cricut tomorrow to ask them about that. It’s throwing everything off for me and it’s very frustrating.

Maymay I love what you showed us! Thanks I would have never realized they updated that! Question though, I have put access on my laptop which is an hp not apple. Access works great on it. Since they updated that Cricut Joy ap I would have thought that I could do the same thing in Design space on my laptop but it is not showing. So I can only use this Joy app on the phone or an ipad? I find the phone screen just too small to design on so I really loved using the laptop. But Joy app is not compatable with the laptop, any suggestions.

Dear Maymay, I've been watching your videos on this machine, and I'm thinking about buying one. I am not too sure about the "app" needed to run the thing, and their website is less than informative. Seems like everyone assumes these days that everyone owns a smartphone. Can I download/access this app from my computer, or would I need to have some other device to use it? I only have a pc - no smartphone, no tablet, no laptop. Can you advise me on this please? Thanks!

I was having the same problem and got really discouraged for quite a while. After watching this video tonight I got my joy out again and suddenly realized that the mats are the problem. They don’t allow the card to go far enough over and it creates the offset. I’m calling them tomorrow to discuss it with them.

@@lori-jocarroll you’re absolutely right. I have two card mats so I decided to play around with my oldest one. I was able to trim a little of the clear plastic down the side so that I could get the card to slide in and go all the way over to the blue line. But no matter what I do, the card doesn’t go high enough and that’s causing a major problem. I’m going to keep working on it to see what I can do.

I too found the inset “tabs” were too close to the one edge so I found a way around that by turning my mat 180 degrees and inserting the card and pushed the card up maybe 1/16 of an inch under the blue on the mat as it is not glued down tight like it is on the top. In other words I am inserting the bottom of the mat first but the margins are the same so it works just fine.
