‘A lot of people who had weird things happen in their youth that didn’t happen to the 11 other friends’…Interesting wording, Jimmy.

That phrase struck my attention as well, just couldnt figure out why. Why do you think this is interesting?
@jeffwood37646 ай бұрын
@@kayaboya It's interesting because he writes about a life-changing event that occurred when he was 11 (in the song 'Jimmy'), and I think his 'eleven' comment here was a reflex. That song is about Carl Jung's 'inner child theory'. You should check it out!
@knowahnosenothing48623 ай бұрын
@@kayaboya It means trauma wakes you up early. Dad gave me a glass of pesticide when I was about 9. Taught me how to see the world I live in, in a different perspective. We are mostly chemically maimed domesticated farm animals. We're also pretty cool sometimes, rest but never give in.
@Parrish_Muhoberac3 ай бұрын
HAHAHA yeah that stuck out to me too - because of "JIMMY" (the songs) - "Eleven and she was gone, 11 is when we waved goodbye, etc"... plus "THE GRUDGE" - "choose one or ten..... the one, the ten, etc"... 11/8 is one of my favourite time signatures to improvise over.

I spent a lot of my time just after High School watching live Tool videos from 91-2019 on KZbin, hours and hours worth of shows. Tool Live in New Jersey 1997, man I’m telling you, is the ultimate trip experience… I can’t recommend enough to people if you’re going to do mushrooms or take acid, you need to WATCH Tool performances… not listen to the albums. There’s something transcendental about the way they transform their music live… the energy they give off. It’s so surreal. Just 2 weeks ago I was extremely lucky to score some Tool tickets in Calgary, Alberta without any hesitation I thought back to the hours I spent in my bedroom and ate 3.5 grams right before I walked into the stadium doors, so excited and filled with anticipation. It was the greatest experience of my life that I will never forget. Long Live Tool.

I listened to Lateralus and 10,000 Days on mushrooms (separate trips) and it was like hearing them for the first time again but also being blown away by every note and every single second of it. I was having synesthesia and I had insane closed eye visuals of these super complex and endless geometric structures that seemed to be forming and building on top of eachother based on Danny's drum patterns. Aside from that what really struck me was the emotional power behind Tool's music. Of course songs like Wings for Marie were always emotional, but experiencing them under psychedelics when all the filters on your emotions are gone makes you truly feel the gravity of the emotions and it's.... Indescribably powerful. I cried all the way through wings pt.2 or The Patient.

yessir, agree with everything Maynard said here. I liked hearing his descriptions' imagery & overall way of describing the psychedelic experience. It definitely is not to be abused as a "party drug", those people are nutzo i could never, besides being at a concert or festival perhaps. ONLY thing I disagree with is the "just once" - lol gotta side with Alex Grey on that one. I definitely think it shouldn't be used often - but more so on occasion, with the day already planned out & a prepared set & setting going into it. There can be more to gain from psychedelics after your first journey. I do think it's pretty sweet that he & Alex still in touch though, apparently. Maaaayyybbbeeee because Tool's got stuff in the works & it could eventually need Alex Grey's touch for the cover art ... ???????

Maynard is 100% CORRECT here... The fact that you learn something NEW while in a psychadelic reality and transcend those things into your "NORMAL" reality... I can't count the amount of things I have become aware of, and what changes I've made to myself through this "Method" as such... And as far as what he mentions - "have to be ready to handle whatever comes during psychadelic experience".. well, I've NEVER experienced anything but focused, spiritual, safe, warming and intelligent things which I easily carry back to Earth and USE for a good purpose. Good on you, Maynard, and thanks.

Psychedelics are truly amazing. But a lot of people could benefit from learning that when you get the message, put down the phone. For each drug and medication you use, they’re taken knowing the goal is to stop taking them. When your cold is gone, you stop taking cold medicine. When your bone is healed, you stop taking the pain killers. So why is it that so so many people, myself included, take LSD, seemingly get the message, but still justify taking the drug several times a year. Just something I’ve been thinking about lately.
@Ma93nta174 Жыл бұрын
I did LSD 3 times in 2012 but mixing it with legal highs. The hit was really clean and I had a spiritual purge and got a LOT of trauma out that needed to be dealt with from when I briefly died and was revived due to sunstroke in 04. One time in 2014 I did too much lone and a blotter then it wore off and I went catatonic and had sleep paralysis. This was just coming out of rehab after losing 2 friends, one to suicide. Then another died due to pharma overdose and neglect. So there was a lot of anger grief and trauma but the substances helped to release that as well as gain new insight which Maynard speaks of here. In 2019 I smoked 🚬 weed and DMT and third eye 👁 blew open too quickly. That's when I necked some vodka and went mad screaming in my house and got put in a psych ward for a couple of months. Since then I haven't done anything more than puff a bit on a mates weak joint.

Hahaha. Comment about Alex… “Yea, I think he’s done them more than once..” 😂😂 So the whole “pre” journey, or really preparing yourself mentally for the experience you would like to have is the most vital concept to me about this whole genre. We did them bc hey, why not try things right? The first few xp’s, and ESPECIALLY the first time, it’s very very very beneficial to plan this xp out. Ready your mind. Talk to whomever you think you need to speak with. Just spend more time preparing than you would have without knowing this stuff. After a few cool xp’s, taking what I learned and then following the whole focus and manifest thing these xp’s (for me anyway) we’re absolutely life changing. Honestly it’s exactly how Keenan describes it, for perspective. Now, I will focus on a specific “problem”, or some sort of puzzle that I am trying to solve… Equipping yourself mentally, before beginning your journey will yield much much much better results. Just my opinion anyway.. Always down to listen to this man speak, the knowledge and down to earth mentality, along with just how in touch and how he never gives anything 99%, it’s an all in, or nothing. That’s very admirable

I've had a few amazing experiences in my life, only a few psychedelic, all of which gave me a renewed sense of perspective and a refreshed spirit. A combination i think of as a 'lucky mistake' was seeing Tool in 1994 on a light dose of LSD. It was a bright, grey day at a big festival west of Sydney, Australia. While waiting to go through the gates as part of a very long line of people, a young man climbed up one of those giant power line towers. A pair of police on horseback stopped behind me and told him to get down. As he navigated the barbed wire i yelled out for him to be careful of his long hair, but my voice was croaky and weird. People looked at me, some dork saying something about hair, then looked at me again when the young fella's hair got caught in the barbed wire. It seemed like i'd made it happen. I looked one of the police horses behind me in the eye, seeing my reflection in it and realizing what a scrap of a physical specimen i was next to this creature, whose chest muscles were bigger than my back. I saw the gentle, good-natured contempt this animal had for me and we shared a moment. The rider turned out to be a country boy as calm and decent as the horse. The way one being could ride the other around struck me as absurd and miraculous. So you can imagine what seeing Tool play 'bottom' and then 'merkaba' was like.

Psychedelics are medicine and should be used as such. I believe that to have an understanding between everyone so that we’re all on the same page it should be administered by a doctor in a medical setting because people that are ill informed that use these medicines at a party will have a bad time because that is not the nature in which these medicines should be used. There is a technique in which these chemicals should be used and by being used the right way can have spiritual and mental benefits but I can’t stress enough that they have to be used in the right set and setting. Doing them more than once isn’t fiendish or sinful. It depends on the person. Even doing this in the first place depends on the person. There is a lot of misunderstanding labeling them as “drugs” so people do them in the wrong environment and wrong mind set and bug out and have a bad time and therefore it’s labeled as evil. It is a very ancient practice. You have to know what you are in for. These are not party drugs. I hope I’m getting at least some understanding through to people by posting this.
