School districts are worried about lawsuits. If a bus slides off a slick road and any kids are injured or worse, lawsuits will start streaming in. Better for them to play it safe.

Snow? The mayor took 64 vacations, paid for by the taxpayers. A little snow is no big deal.

A couple of points. STL plows snow, Cities that get large amounts of snow remove it.

MoDOT keeps saying they can’t find people to work. Why? Either way, I’m tired of watching Bob Becker every snowstorm telling us the same thing how his crews are working 12 hour shifts and here we are almost a week later and the roads still look like garbage. Explain to me how states like Wisconsin and Michigan don’t seem to have a problem with storms like this yet Missouri is constantly crippled by them and it’s just getting worse each time.

The Post Office needs to change their motto from “Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” to: "If it snows, we won't even TRY to deliver mail for at least a FULL WEEK!"

It takes a DOT license to drive these vehicles. Pay these people the proper wage to do this job. You cannot expect drivers to operate these vehicles 2-3 months a year for minimum wage.

it's actually a CDL license! we carry DOT medical cards lol. but you're so right!

Those of us who use scooters and tried to go to work, but couldn't cross the roads downtown, would like it if the city would bother to shovel cutaways. I had no choice but to work at home.

Wendy's full of BS. I'm close to her age and there were plenty of people who didn't come in to work when it snowed like this 30-40 years ago.

Wendy when you worked, businesses and bosses didn’t care about the personal welfare of people. Hate to break it to ya, but times have changed when it comes to how employees feel about coming to work in bad weather conditions. People don’t feel like getting stranded, injured, or killed going to work for someone who would easily replace them in a heartbeat.

It’s totally MoDOT’s managements fault. They are under orders to operate the department like they did in the 70’s and the 80’s. And the blame other things or people for the failings

Once again, Sarah and the other anti government panelists don’t under what public service roles are. We need to get back to government 101 from the high school civic classes in the 80’s.

The municipalities have budgeted less since they have had less and less snowfall the last 20+ years. Yes we have snow, but less often and less accumulation. I can never tell if you all are serious in some of your "takes" or if you are playing devil's advocate. Climate change is more accurate but it is occurring regardless of causations.

But even years ago, MoDOT has NEVER been good with keeping up with snowstorms.
