Just a video on my 1970's Maytag commercial washing machine it's a beast and i got it for free which is the best part. the funny thing is it's going to make DaSamNudge super jealous

This in NOT from the 1970’s, more than likely is from the 1990’s or very early 2000’s. All Maytag washers from about the mid 80’s and older have the turquoise powerfin agitator along with the long stroke helical transmission, this has the orbital transmission which has a shorter and faster stroke.

I appreciate these Maytags more now that they are gone. Took them for granted. The new Maytag commercial residential MVWP575GW looks very promising....the best I have seen yet on Whirlpool's vmw platform.

You should keep that one long as possible, its a definite keeper. And now is the time to get the model number and start looking for spare parts on ebay. Parts to have on hand are Belt or belts as some models have two belts, water pump & water control valve for starters. If you find the right new old stock spare parts you can keep one of these old washers going for decades.

Awesome washer. The only bad thing about these commercial washers is the limited options and cycles available. Some don't even let you adjust the water level. The good thing is that there built to last.
@tylersteffen2007 жыл бұрын
yeah it's a bummer that it doesn't but i can't complain with this thing. i got it for free in basically new condition from a Stop & Shop that upgraded to a new speed queen. when my direct drive E state washer's motor locked up my uncle who is the manger there stepped up and gave us this washer. it was properly maintained over the years. so a lot of parts are new in this washer!
@chineeboy187 жыл бұрын
That's great. That washer gonna give you good service for a very long time. It think you can still add a water level selector if you want. Just have to get the right part if it's still in production.

That's not a 70's model Maytag, that my friend is mid 90's it has the Orbital transmission which Maytag released in 1991and made until Whirlpool purchased them in 2006.
@tcapone17346 жыл бұрын
I have the same washer. Mine is a 2004 made unit. Got it for free just like him. Looks almost brand new and came with extra Main boards, drive motors, relays, belts, switch and inlet valves. These sold NEW for $5,384.36
@deltaboy7678 жыл бұрын
this machine is not from the 70's at all. the orbital drive Maytag came out in the late 80's. Prior to this Maytag had the helical drive from the mid 50's up untill 1988.
@StarzXFP8 жыл бұрын
This is no where near a 70s machine... it has a digital display and the black panel on the right is normally converted for a credit card or digital card but in this case it was not. It is also not a belt drive, except a direct drive, because it has the whirlpool style 'surgilator'. We have the same exact ones in my apartment complex and they were installed brand new sometime in mid to late 2000s. Nice machine regardless.
@tcapone17346 жыл бұрын

HHH100 the build date is june 6th 1989. Unless i read it wrong (i more them likely did). I dont think smart cards were used on sonthing like this. Unless it wasnt a smart card. Again these things arent my strong point. All i know is i got a good ass washer for free. And sent abunch of nerds to there safe place by posting this shitty video
@HHH1006 жыл бұрын
The card slot was for a laundromat card, not a smart card. KEEP that machine forever. All modern washers do not work anymore. They don't use enough water or turnover the clothes.

Kenmore and Whirlpool actually introduced direct drive washing machines during the late 50’s and early 60’s to be exact. Frigidaire and Maytag actually introduced direct drive washing machines during the early 60’s to be exact:
@petermaz7014 жыл бұрын
I don’t know where you got your information from? Whirlpool/Kenmore it was the mid-80s that they introduced direct drives before that they were belt driven machines. Frigidaire never had a direct drive, nor did original Maytag, when it was bought by whirlpool they were a few.
@Dog-Lover364 жыл бұрын
According to the owner’s manual and some online research commentary from KZbin and automatic-washer.org, Whirlpool actually introduced the very first Direct Drive washing machine and matching dryer around 1982 and 1984. Maytag and General Electric introduced the very first washing machine and matching dryer with Direct Drive around 1981 and 1983.

Direct drive machine s where brought in in the 1989 and 90 models. The washingmachine s in the 50sand 60s and 70s and even part of the 80s was all transmissions and belt driven because we had a Sears lady kenmore in the early middle 60s that was belt driven and was replaced with a decade 80 whirlpool in 1983 which was still transmission and belt driven Our new home when we moved had the whirlpool direct drive which was purchased in the early 90s

This is from back when they made real heavy duty machines, todays maytags are just re-badged Whirlpools - and that aint saying much. Theres some serious agitation and turn over here, todays HE machines don't even come close to this kind of wash action. Never discount an old school belt drive machine, the older belt drives were some of the best heavy duty machines ever made. I have an old 1977 GE Filterflo belt drive that's still kicking butt 40 years later-! I took it apart to change the pump and the original belt still looked good after 40 years-!!
