My dryer was making clunking for a while. Someone looked at it and ruled out a bad belt, so we thought it was the bearings, and I was just biding my time until it died for good. Then a few days ago, it kept spinning, but stopped blowing, so I thought I had two problems. I figured that I could spend less than $25 to replace the blower wheel myself and continue to bide my time. Turns out this was the problem all along, and it works like a charm now. Thank you so much.

Just serviced this on my dryer. Wasn't sure what was causing a clunking noise and after eliminating belt/idler and rollers I figured out it was just the blower wobbling on the shaft. (At first it was just a noise and start up, but became constant after a couple of months.) Was able to make a "temporary" repair with an aluminum shim cut from a beverage can and inserted between the shaft and blower wheel. Will probably wait for the problem to reemerge before ordering the replacement part.

The snap ring behind the blower wheel keeps “jumping” the groove causing the blower to bottom out against the back side of the enclosure, which causes the portion of the wheel around the motor shaft to break. I’ve repaced the snap ring and I’m now on the third time replacing the wheel this year !!!Any thoughts or suggestions ?

The only thing I can think of is that the snap ring is not the correct size? Or its being damaged during installation?
