Thanks for the update. When I struggled with the gunga under the white mess, I was using a bottle brush in the outside face. I didn't realize was in my hand all the time. I will explore the door flap. I will clean the lower tube on my next journey into the dishwasher.

I am flabbergasted that Maytag does not allow the filter pocket to be disassembled. It has a little lip, but seems too fragile to separate.

Same - I've tried with considerable force to separate this piece, but I think it's glued or sealed together. Most luck I've had cleaning it is with a pipe cleaner.

The metal sprayers seem to plug & grow stuff in them. Toothpicks just push it back in. I used a longer wire through the big feed hole and worked it around to break stuff up. Then taped all the rinse holes & blew air with a compressor in the main feed hole & alternated to the far end rinse holes to force all the crap out the big enty hole.

That's pretty dang clever! I can't think of a better way to be thorough with these sprayers.

I have to use my bathtub faucet to blast them out, what doesn’t come out usually does if I fill the tub a few inches full and try to get the nastiness to float up through the big opening by swishing them around. Best method I’ve found!

run 8" or more into bathtub, put paddle sprayers in upside down and swish back and forth. Will see lots of vegetable strings, popcorn hulls, lettuce pieces come floating out into tub water. Only way I could get them clean. Have to do that at least once a month.

I appreciate this update. And the personality pit into them. After having my own gunga seemingly defeated, I'm now having noises which appear to come from the impeller, and the timer says 1:51 when it starts, but it then ticks up and runs more than an hour and a half. I'm not sure if the impeller is part of this, or if I'll end up having to replace the entire motor, because in some cases you can't just replace the impeller. Sounds like very rapid ticking. I thought it was a bearing at first.

So. Helpful. I am still fighting the gunga battle but I feel so much more prepared. Part 1 and this one were great.

Just watched your first video, love that it's straight to the point with humor! I like to use my steam cleaner for the gunga under the door crevice. Works great! Might also work well for the mesh filter.

OHMYGOSH. Im gonna try it on the filter 😳

Would the mesh filter be able to be soaked in diluted Liquid Plumber in the sink for a few minutes? I wonder if that would break down all that stuff stuck in there that we can't get at, or if it would just be too harsh for it.
@Bootstrappin3 ай бұрын
That's an interesting idea. I have no idea, could be too harsh/melt the mesh - but I would reckon liquid dishwasher detergent shouldn't harm it and could yield similar results.

Thanks - I use a shop vac to suck the gunga out of the sprayer arms... Can tape shut the little holes. It worked.
