Just an fyi 2 every1 cause some1 actually commented on another video there is a plastic tensioner on that left side that is inside underneath inside the washer u have 2 break off that plastic tensioner off that metal arm or it will keep pushing that metal hinge in2 that plastic lid after u break off that plastic put that metal arm back on just how the right side is without the tensioner then attach ur lid back on but u can keep buying lids and they will keep breaking if u don't get rid of that tensioner my now works perfectly with no pressure on the plastic!

This makes sense to me...I haven't taken the lid off yet to fix it. Is the plastic "tensioner" visible and easy to break?
@elizabethrincon65689 ай бұрын
Where is the piece that I have to remove? I refuse to buy a lid. LOL
@RanaeBates7 ай бұрын
Our just did this. Shouldn’t there be a recall since so many have broken
@tararardin68282 ай бұрын
I agree, this just happened to us for the second time after we’ve already bought a replacement lid once. So how many have to break before a recall?
@RolonFamАй бұрын
Same! They replaced it once and now it’s broke again! SMH

My lid looks a little different, but was cracking on both sides with missing plastic. I used your suggestion of the J.B. Weld putty with a clamp and was able to get it flush and strong. Working well so far! Thank you so much for this! Hoping that I can hang in there a little while longer without a new lid or washer. Update 2024: One year later and the lid is holding strong after using the J.B. Weld method. No further cracking and lid is still intact.

Glad the second method helped, I added that at the end just in case I had to fall back on the original lid. Funny I don't seem to have a problem on the right side but have read others have. I may reinforce the right side as well.

Thanks. I used the steel epoxy, stuffed it into the cavity around the hinge pin about three months ago and it works very well. This is after buying a new lid and it broke.

Thats great, you have a backup just like me.

Our washer just cracked on this side and the left hinge stopped going down all the way. We removed the lid and removed the hinges. We now set the lid on top and fully remove it when we are done. Annoying, but until we fully fix it, I’m glad we can make it work. We bought it in Nov 2018 and it just broke so I guess that’s good ?????

Yeah it's junk

Do you think this a good preventative measure to do before it begins to crack?
@DesignBuildFixReview5 ай бұрын
Yes, on my second lid we kept an eye on it. Wife noticed the left one had a whiteish dot in the plastic appear it was starting to crack. I immediately put that plexglass on there no issues at all about a year now.
@TheIndianscout4 ай бұрын
Did you remove the plastic tensioner on the new lid and add the plexiglass?
@DesignBuildFixReview4 ай бұрын
No didn't do that I guess I can still do it. But the fix is holding up for over a year now.

Do you have a video on how to remove the lid from the washer??

How do I replace the lid? We bought a new lid and it isn’t clear. Any thought?
@DesignBuildFixReview4 ай бұрын
It doesn't look like the oem one? Did you buy from maytag sounds wrong unless they made a better replacement? There is an allen screws on the right and left bottom that you remove then lift the lid up to take off.

Bought one January..Can't get anyone to fix it. Maybe I can try this.
@DesignBuildFixReview Жыл бұрын
Well the cost of the new lid I bet now is near $300, and to get someone to remove and install I bet is like $250. Nowadays no one wants to leave the house for under $300. Best to do it yourself. Watch my other videos on this washer hope they help you.
@keithcorso3853 ай бұрын
Would be easier to affect this repair if you removed the lid. Four screws hold it on.
@DesignBuildFixReview3 ай бұрын
@@keithcorso385 I didn't know how to get that white plastic tension level off. I was also not sure how the lid closed was detected by the electronics, didn't want to mess with it. Still solid now after the plexi. I may remove lid and give it a shot.

How did it hold up?
@DesignBuildFixReview9 ай бұрын
It's doing great no more cracks I seem to have stopped it in it's tracks.

Mine is clamped right now. How long did you leave it before using washer again? Thanks.
@DesignBuildFixReview8 ай бұрын
@@marcellafezza5897 I clamped it for a day just to make sure.

Hope that works for you. These lids suck.
@TomGerbec11 ай бұрын
You need to take the top off and using a large screwdriver or chisel and manually work the piston to loosen it up. That is what's causing so much pressure on the left side.
@DesignBuildFixReview11 ай бұрын
Thanks, will give that a shot.

A star #15 is supposed to be the correct tool to take the lid off.

@@209Sharon I had a bunch of bits found one that fit.

Also lift the top where the springs are and work to remove the plastic piece for the piston it is not necessary. You may have to learn how to open and close a lid without this assist 😊
