With the recent news that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has agreed to fight Manny Pacquiao potentially in May 2015, I made a hype video to promote the historic event.
Two of the greatest legends to live in the modern boxing era are facing off for the first time.

I love both Pacquiao and Mayweather. Mayweather is a defensive genius. Pacquiao is an attacking genius. Both are all time greats. One of the best attacking fighters against one of the best defensive fighters and counter punchers. Statesman v Ghetto King. Pacquiao symbol of the people wanting to change the world and fight poverty v Mayweather symbol of the American dream and the individual path to riches. Both are diametrically opposite but they both have the same core rising from broken homes, bad education and the only route to making a life was boxing. Both are superb athletes who put in the work and show that dedication can achieve anything. Both have supported their extended families and given money to charity though you don't hear the media covering that too much when it comes to Mayweather. Both have faults as human beings - Manny cheating on his wife, gambling, and drinking but now returned to a Christian life style and reconciled with his wife. Floyd accused of assaults against girlfriends and did time for one assault on a plea bargain, who as a single man plays the field and although he gambles he doesn't touch booze. I love Pacquiao for his ability to show the little man can rise and win against all odds and opponents regardless of size. Despite his wealth he wants to do good in his homeland and help people. In the ring he has a crowd pleasing attacking style and will mix it up because he is a warrior, though he has been less gung ho since his Marquez KO. But he is prepared to take punishment and give it. Outside the ring he is the good guy who is humble, doesn't flash his wealth and always has a smile and is making the transition to statesman after his election in the Philippines. I love Floyd for his defensive ring skills and his mantra of "hard work and dedication", showing boxers and others how to win and not get hit over 20 years. But he also shows boxers how to make money and create their own promotion companies and manage themselves instead of letting all the money go to managers and promoters - others have already started following his path. Outside the ring he is stuck with his "Money" persona which he has used to sell fights and keep him in the limelight and thereby help promote his brand and companies. He is brutally honest and has said he fights to make money and avoids getting involved in brawls because he is not there to please the crowd but to win the fight and not get hit. Because this fight has not needed any hype Mayweather has not been doing any trash talking and even the face-offs with Manny have been tame though Floyd did seem to be underplayed and even stumbled over his words during the final press conference but Manny was relaxed and jokey. Floyd is widely seen as the bad guy, arrogant and flash and he is hated by many especially in the mainstream. But he is living the American dream of glamour and excess. Remember he is a showman calling himself "The Best Ever" just as Ali was a showman calling himself "The greatest". Both played their antics in the build up to fights to sell fights. Both have said love me or hate me but at least you will pay to see me. Ali was also once hated by the mainstream in the US who initially used to call him Clay even after he changed his name. His charm and antics on camera won him hearts and he was the first global sports superstar of the modern era. His lack of business skills meant he was ripped off by Don King and he ended up near broke and the punishment he took in the ring led to Parkinsons. Mayweather is the first sporting superstar of the digital era, a money making machine for Las Vagas and sponsors and his business skills mean he is a billionaire and he won't have parkinsons when he leaves the sport. But he does not display the charm or comedy of an Ali so won't be loved like Ali was. Who wins is down to skill, boxing and who is the best in prep and on the night. Anything could happen - that's the beauty of boxing. One punch can change everything. Odds are that Floyd should win but despite his superb conditioning you do lose speed with age and some timing but if Floyd is able to be on top form for the whole fight and get his timing right on his checked left hook and his lead right he could do some damage especially if Pacquiao jumps in and over reaches. Pacquiao has power and that is the last thing to go - just look at Foreman! And his machine gun punches - 6 to ten punches at a time - could cause Floyd some trouble. Manny's defence is his attack throwing punches from all angles and although his footwork is not always balanced his movement helps him create angles. Mayweather has become more defensive minded over the years and does not get involved as much as he used when he was stopping opponents on a regular basis. Manny has been less gung ho since his Marquez KO and has been more defence minded recently. Both fighters have their strengths and weaknesses and are still at the top during the last two decades - something which few can do. According to their recent bouts the fight should go the distance with a points victory. But being Las Vagas it could end up being a draw with an even bigger purse for the re-match. I expect the fight to go the way of the Mayweather v Marquez fight. But Pacman is better than Marquez (though they suited each other style wise). If he closes the distance, which he will be able to do more than Marquez, then it gets interesting. Manny may well be trying the old run in and step to his left/Floyds right and get the power shots in but when he throws that left hand he always ducks to his right leaving him open. One of the keys to the fight will be Floyd moving to his left and his ability to maintain control of the exchanges. It could end up with them both turning in circles trying to play to their strengths. Basically Floyd has to box Manny like Sugar Ray boxed Duran in their second fight and not get involved too much and frustrate Manny with his longer reach and movement in and out of the pocket. If Floyd just throws two punches and grabs I don't think it will be enough to outscore Manny so will he be forced to revert to some of his old style. He is going to have to adjust his defensive "philly shell" which leaves him more open to Manny's southpaw stance with the straight left down the middle. Floyd could leave himself open to uppercuts when he is ducking in his "philly shell" and he doesn't deal so well with jabs but Manny is open to the checked left hook/uppercut and of course Floyds straight right. Usually Floyd always has better punch stats but that may not be the case this time as he often throws less punches than his opponents so it depends on how many of Manny's punches land. Also judges don't see the slow motion replay so what looks like punches hitting Floyd in real time, just miss in slow motion. Although Manny has not displayed as much power in his last few fights - you just have to see the faces of his opponents to see the damage he can do. One interesting fact - Manny's wrist size is 8 inches which means his skeleton is big for his size and that means he is able to create more blood and get it flowing round his body and provide oxygen quicker. Also means he has more power in his punches - Joe Louis and Mike Tyson had eight inch wrists and knock out power. Floyd's wrist is 7.5 inches and of course he has fragile hands which is why he will be wearing custom made Grant gloves which give extra padding to the knuckles whereas Manny is wearing standard punchers gloves Reyes. I love both these boxers so am torn between the two. I hope it is a good fight and no-one is seriously injured. Manny can cope with a loss as he has done in the past. A loss for Floyd will damage his brand "the Best Ever" and his undefeated status. It could then lead to an even more lucrative rematch but there is no rematch clause in the contract! I won't be watching the fight live, I prefer to listen to boxing on the radio - always sounds more dramatic and reminds me when I was a kid staying up to find a radio station doing live coverage and then going to school the next day.

This is going to be a great fight. I think if pacquiao can cut the ring off and throw his 456 combinations he may be able to catch floyd and if if does it enough than a knock down possibly knock out. If Floyd uses the ring to dance around and not get cut off and uses 123 combinations he may be able to pick manny apart but manny likes to go to war so this gonna e a great fight

It has been said a lot from all of us about this fight..Its time to give Floyd some credit to..He took the fight and we will see after the fight if he is the man or not...I have called him chicken and much worse than that but he is a great boxer. Not a fighter but a boxer..Hall of famer no doubt there..If he beats Pac Man I will admit that he is one of the best defencive fighters of all time..I dont rate Floyd in the same class as Thomas Hearns,Roberto Duran or Sugar Ray Leonard because these dudes were true Warriors..Floyd is not in that class in my view..Great yes but not that great;-)

Rindarejang this logic is flawed. Floyd made it look easy because he was multiple levels ahead of this opponent. Majority of them world championships and hall of famers. The older guys fought hard and were ‘warriors’ meaning they didn’t have Floyd’s acumen to box without getting touched.
