Mazak CNC Lathe Material Shape Function. In this video, I am showing how to use the material shape function to make it easier to program when cutting pre-machined components.

My son and I just purchased a Mazak Quick Turn 8 with T-2 Mazatrol. We will be doing a lot of cast iron castings. This is spot on to what we need.

Perfect example of where you would use this is when your machining forgings or castings. We use this feature all the time on our integrex machines when we are machining forgings. Saves so much cycle time not machining air and the best part is your turning units are no different if your machining a forging or from a billet the only thing that changes is you add the material shape and the rest of the program stays the same.

Hello, firstly I have to say thank you very much for all your videos. I have a question about work coordinates systems. Currently I'm using Nexus 350 II 2 Quick turn, but I don't know how to re-set the absolute work coordinates like in fanuc. I know how to set tools and keep working but I want to learn how to set g54, g55 work coordinates. Sorry for my English, if I made it hard to understand.

I've been working in Mazatrol for 10 years, love your stuff. Could you do a video on how to work the mazak Sub Program? I keep getting ( 906 Illegal address). I've been trying everything AMF racking my brain for 2 days. Thanks mam.

Thanks for the compliment. I am not sure if my old controller can do a sub program in EIA. I know it does not have that capability in Mazatrol like the newer controls.

You're welcome. I changed settings on the microphone so perhaps that is the difference. I didn't change anything on the machine.

You then continue to describe the geometry. I only used one line. The older control like mine allows up to 3 lines for OD and 3 lines for ID shape description.

@@SimpLeMan2888 No, your controller is 3 generations newer than mine. I don't know exactly when Mazak changed the shape geometry to be more like a bar out process description.
