I'm from Mpls. The Mpls sound is unique, but never became a thing. Mainly associated with early Prince and the Time (Prince's side project). You had on the opposite side of the spectrum Hoosker du, Teh Replacements, Soul Asylum, etc... that are considered the Mpls sound.

for all the people saying that the lead singer sucked, how could they suck when they were known for putting on hot shows back in the day. I loved mazarati as a little boy and still do......

I remember when they came to Dallas, and they were doing an outdoor concert, and about 2 songs in, a thunderstorm blew in and they cancelled the rest of the show.... but they were bringing it, of the short time they performed.... they were loud and badass, even in all that paisley...lol

They were pretty talented, though. Prince gave them 'Kiss', then when he heard their version, he took it back...but he left their background vox on his record. Two of the guys (forgive me for not knowing which ones) formed a production team called 'The Wild Pair', and did the male vocals on Paula Abdul's 'Opposites Attract'

I have the album on vinyl, bought it the day it came out in 86. Good music, every song has a good hook. That being said it was largely ignored by pop radio and R&B radio. Still a very good album though. The truth is though , the album did not have any hits as far as radio went.
@PrinceLeaker6 ай бұрын
I think it's mostly due to the fact that they came late up on the sound, well at least released the album a year too late. 1986, people have moved on a bit from that sound and look.

probably not, by the time Mazarati came about Morris was well into his solo carreer... Brownmark was the one behind Mazarati, as far as choreography that was mostly Prince wanting the band to move and dance together, like the revolution, The Time, and like Sheila E's band... watch how they all moved in sync...
