Thank you for this! After watching, I was able to do mine in under 10 minutes. It really needed as well. Those things were nasty!

FINALLY ! Someone who shows how the upper filter is supposed to stay!

Tell me about it! I watched another video and it did not mention that. I struggled for 20 mins then searched for another video (this video). 30 seconds later I was done! The filter before this one was done at the garage and the guy there told me that these types are the worst to put in.

It's a bit of a pain to install the upper filter. Just make sure the upper filter goes into the guides correctly on the bottom as you first slide it in and also on the far side away from you before sliding it upwards. I found I had to do this a few times before it was seated correctly and then I could slide it up within the two guides towards the top to seat the upper filter correctly.

Great explanation, camera angles, and everything. This is how you make DIY videos.

Great Video. Easy to follow. But like someone else in another video noted. That sensor you are pulling out? You have to be sure it does NOT touch any metal, otherwise you can cause a short in the A/C. The others recommend you make sure the battery negative line is disconnected to avoid any accidental discharge. edit: I'd recommend instead to just unclip the white clip socket you see at 2:49 and 2:51. There is a small grove on the white clip you can slide a small flat head screw driver down and prie out the power clip. There are other videos that will show it too. Hope that can help someone. It turns out the other guy who learned of this mistake had to wait for a replacement part for the component that got shorted out. Ooops. (he described pulling out the sensor carefully like playing the game OPERATION, lol. )

Thanks DarkZeta, I added a CAUTION note to the description to alert people to remove the cable prior to removing the AC Blower Resistor sensor unit to avoid accidentally shorting it. I just replaced my cabin air filters again, so I recorded a short video of me removing the cable to the AC Blower Resistor sensor unit: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3mYhn2qiK6Mfqc Just plug it in again prior to finishing up and re-installing the kick panel.

I unclipped it but not because I knew about the possibe shorting, but because it was getting in the way :)

Thanks. Good video. I used a STP CAF1878P filter set since nobody had any of the Fram 11672 in stock. They specify that the wider tab on the side faces out (The tab closest to the driver is a bit less wide). I appreciated all of the details that you included. This saved me about $60 and I was amazed at the amount of dried leaves and old June bugs that had accumulated so I also vacuumed out the filter area before sliding in the new ones. Thanks again.

Great video, I used the Fram febreze brand and they are pretty fool proof, knowing the foam gasket goes to the top, the bottom one can only slide into the channels one way. The most difficult part was positioning the top filter correctly, a little pressure from the bottom did the trick

Very, very helpful. I'd watched a couple and couldn't figure out how to get the small side panel out. I could see here that a good yank from the bottom and top does it. Before this video I was pulling but not getting it to detach. Now to get the filters, and put it all back together. Hopefully just as easy. Thanks!

After changing the filter the ac is not flowing air . Any idea what must be the problem?
@videotutorials23862 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure, but if the blower does not work on settings 1 - 3, but it does on 4 then your AC Blower Resistor may have gotten shorted if you accidentally touched it to something metal. I added a CAUTION note for people to remove the cable that provides power to the Blower Resistor to avoid this from happening.

It looks like the blower resistor is mounted on the filter cover. You didn't make note of that. This would have been helpful to someone that has an A/C blower issue

Where did you get the filters from?

I live in Canada, so if I remember correctly it was from Lordco. As you can see in the video the filter that I purchased was by "Beck Arnley" model 0422180.

Anyone getting condensation issues inside the front cabin of their Mazda. When it's below freezing the whole inner side of my windshield is frozen. Could it be due to these dirty filters? I took the car back to Mazda two years ago and they said nothing was wrong and they haven't heard of this issue. Not what I wanna hear.
@rickb2969 жыл бұрын
I May-ne Switch your air flow from recirculated to outside air. When on recirc, moisture from your own breath is kept inside the cabin. You'd be surprised at how fast it fogs up inside when the outside air is very dry.
