For future people. The 3 bolts going to the trans is 33-44 Ft lbs. the other 2 17mm for the bracket and to the subframe is 54-66ft lbs. If it’s a manual, the 3 bolts to the trans is 70-85 Ft lbs.

Ray, Replaced my right, left motor mounts and trans mounts this weekend on my 2006 Mazda 3. Your videos were most useful and spot on. Couldn't have done it without them. Excellent video. After replacing all mounts on my '08 Mazda 3 2.3 it now has four issues: 1) engine light on 2) idles a little rough 3) fan came on right away after starting even though the car sat for three days and 4) the automatic transmission shifts good, but shifts hard if that makes sense. I did not change out the coolant sensor, but I will tomorrow. Anything else you can think of that might be causing these issues? All electrical cables and plugs are plugged back in.
@WhitneyAutomotive Жыл бұрын
Take a hard look at that MAF sensor... reference voltage goes through it so it can definitely cause all these problems. Make sure the harness isn't pinched anywhere and wiggle the pins in the back to see if it changes. Can you pull codes on it? That should definitely help narrow it down. If it has MAF or IAT codes, you'd definitely be looking that way.

@@WhitneyAutomotive Thank you very much! I saw another video last night where the guy said, after disconnecting the battery for extended periods, the car needs to "relearn" how the car runs. Let it idle 20 minutes, turn on the A/C 15 minutes, then drive. I did, and it is better, but still stalls sometimes at a stop sign. I did that before I saw your response so now I will follow your advice. I will inspect and wiggle (the wires LOL), and then drive it up the street to O'Reilly's to pull codes. Thanks again for the GREAT video!

Great videos! I used them to replace 2 of my 3 motor mounts, with my 80 year old Dad's help. 😅 ❤️ 🙌 (One was still good.) My car is a 2004 Mazda 3S, 2.3 liter. Couple of questions for you! Is there a certain torque setting for the torque mount, or just tighten until tight? The other mounts had a specific torque you mentioned, but nothing was mentioned for the bottom/torque mount. I ask the above question also because my engine has been sounding different, and has new sounds that it didn't have prior to changing the transmission mount and the torque mount. Wasn't sure if the bottom one just wasn't tightened properly? What could be the potential causes of the new sounds\issues? Sounds are: high-pitch engine (transmission?) whine, some rattling\throaty sounds that occur mainly when accelerating and more when on an incline, loss of power when going up hill (and with accompanying rattley sound), engine jolts\moves more when the car is started on an incline (often not noticeable when on level ground), but I'm also noticing more engine vibration just when on the freeway at the higher speeds as time goes on. These issues seem to be getting worse the more I drive it. 😭 What could have gone wrong?! 😓 It's STILL better than it was before replacing them, but now it just doesn't sound or feel right. 😢 I plan to try to look at that bottom mount again tomorrow evening (9/15), but I'd like to know what to look for, or if I should tighten anything at a specific torque, while I have it up. I'm hoping to solve esolve this on my own so I don't have to take it to a mechanic Friday for a diagnosis. 🤦
@WhitneyAutomotive2 жыл бұрын
While accelerating or going up a hill means it is "under load". It is likely that it is not related to the mounts at all considering there is a sound change and lack of power. The first thing I would check is the air boot. It is removed or loosened to do the trans mount. If it is not secure around the airbox or throttle body it will cause exactly what you're describing.

Thanks,Ray. What I meant the 17mm screws 2pcs, tighten on 66ft.lbf. the same method as the video for the right side on Mazda3. tighten 17mm screws with torque wrench after jack removed.

Howzit bro. Thanks for the video. My right hand side motor mount went bad so I replaced it with a brand new aftermarket mount about 2 months ago. The problem I have since I replaced the mounting is the horrible vibrations I get when the car idle or even when I drive slow. It's worse than the vibrations the car had with the old worn out mount. Any advice please. Thanks
@peterjohnson94383 жыл бұрын
Kinda late, but it sounds like you might have overtightened something or installed the mount crooked.

I have a manual 2005 Mazda3 hatchback, which I bought it a week ago. It's mechanically unmodified. But recently, on the highway, starting around 65-70mph, I feel this constant shuddering/vibration, as if I were driving over a rough/corrugated surface. I can let go of the steering wheel, and it will still drive perfectly straight, but the wheel still vibrates noticeably. I don't offhand notice any vibration or sounds at lower around-town speeds. I had the wheels rebalanced today (they did find that it was off a bit), but the vibration continues. This is just a commuter car, so I've never driven it hard, and it's still basically a new car, so it seems unlikely that the bearings or brakes would be at fault. Please do you have any ideas what the culprit might be, or where to go from here?? ^^ I swear, I feel like something bad will happen at any moment while driving on the freeway, which makes for a tense daily commute! I'd almost say the handling feels slightly less stable on the highway too (dunno if anyone else would notice it though). I doubt it's relevant, but a month ago, I did have one of the rear tires professionally patched for a nail in it. Since the vibration is making its way up through the steering wheel, that suggests it's something up with the front of the car. Otherwise, I can't think of anything recent that could cause such a mysterious problem.
@GuyThatYouHate2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like wheel bearings. It's an older car at this point, so even if you think of it as a basically new car they could still be messed up.

Hey Ray, Just bought a 2006 and the mounts are as destroyed as the ones you did, so there is a lot of engine movement. Now that you've replaced them which one would you start with first to have the least amount of engine shift when I remove the first one ? (great vids by the way, thanks!)
