This is a good video. I think I made this comment before but when me and my friend did my spark plugs the job should have been way easier then it ended up being. Since she's an 05 and nearly at 200,000 miles everything plastic decided to desintigrate. So I ended up needed to get new ignition coil connectors, a new valve cover (because the plastic that holds the bolts that hold the ignition coils broke.) So yeah we had to tape everything up until I could get the parts.

@@ColtonRichter yeah it sucked. I may needa get another valve because I'm leaking oil in one of the spark plug holes and the valve cover is used so I'ma try and get a new oem one

Good tutorial. I would recommend to add some di-electric grease around the rubber boot which connects the ignition coils to the spark plugs, so that debris/water cannot get in, it also prevents any arcing from occuring with the engine's head which can lead to misfires. Also use a regular ratchet to slightly tighten the plugs, then torque to spec using a torque wrench after. Breaker bars should only be used for undoing bolts.

Good tips!

Hey, is Digital Torque Wrench to the specs important?!

Thanks for another video! Looking forward to more. I replaced my plugs about 30 000 miles ago and the car is idling a tad rough now. I whip my 2.5 but take care of its needs. I was checking the compression of my cylinders the other day and was surprised to see my plugs so burnt and wasted! I expected at least double the life.. i didnt check the gap before though, I had someone do change them. Will do it myself now.

Ngk laser iridium spark plug crew!! *Fist bump* AUD was was $29 AUD each but i did pay for a retail store! - amatuer tip for first timers, make sure all your coil caps are firmly down. I had one just off and and ended up crapping myself and shamefully took it to the mechanic but thankfully they were honest and laughed at my stupidity, which if you have a clunking sound on start up, chances are you didnt secure a coil cap.

That's just a misfire fam, just rub it in a bit more 😅

my 2017 mazda 3 sedan is similar to this except the manual says i need a 14mm socket for the spark plug. problem is mine are so tightly in! im only at 99k miles and had no idle problems or anything but i just wanted to keep up with maintenance BUT spark plug one i lost the 14mm socket stuck in the well with the spark plug still in! and the problem is that the 14mm socket i used was not a long one but a short inch and a half one , and now its stuck and i can't figure out how to get it out as its not loose in there either! spark plug number 2 was so tight in that i couldn't get it out after really going at it for 5 min straight not knowing i shouldn't have forced it for that long so idk how much damaged ive done to the threading at this point but the plug is still in there tight but i did manage to take out the longer 14mm socket WHICH also got stuck in the well but managed to wiggle it out. so i havn't even touched plug 3 and 4 at all because im terrified and i have to deal with the stuck 14mm socket stuck inside plug number 1 , any tips from anyone would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like from reading a few forums that they're easy to get stuck, a mix of 14mm & 9/16 users as well. Sometimes you just need good leverage as they can get a little corroded in their threads.
@LukeEdward2 жыл бұрын
Sooo… Why are you not using a dab of antiseize on the threads and dielectric grease on the coils?
@ColtonRichter2 жыл бұрын
If water going in there we got a problem cowboy
@Embarq00710 ай бұрын
Per the manufacturer NGK iridium plugs do not recommend anti-seize

All NGK are pre gapped
@robertmcdonald1786 Жыл бұрын
Yes they are all pre gapped but might not be the gap you need. 2007 Mazda 2.0 needs .052” gap but the plugs I got from NGK have a .044” pre gap.
