Great and clear video thanks. You talk about cabin filter. How many air filters do you need to change.
@NexusAuto2 жыл бұрын
For air, there is only 2 filters. There is the cabin filter and air filter. There are other filters for different things as well (like fuel filter, oil filter, transmission filter, etc)..

Very well done videos sir. I just bought a Mazda 5 I love it. It's a 6-speed manual. What oil do you recommend?
@NexusAuto2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Much appreciated! A 6 spd Mazda5? You don't see those very often! Awesome! Double check your manual, but off memory, it's 5w20. As for brands, use what works for you. I've used so many brands and they do perform well

Thanks for making a quality video, however my 2010 Mazda 5 engine compartment is significantly different from what's shone in the video.
@michaelmcnally12425 жыл бұрын
Oh wait; did you skip the step of taking off that plastic cover over the box where the filter is? When that's off, then it's the same as yours :) (I found it easier to get it off by first removing the battery plastic cover.)
@NexusAuto5 жыл бұрын
@@michaelmcnally1242 Hi Michael, To answer the question, nope, I didn't skip any steps, and how you see the engine, is exactly as the car came in. But your comment did get me curious, as I have seen changes happen to cars over MYs. And I see exactly what you are saying! in 2010 (and it seems, only in 2010) you had the cover that i can only describe as looking a bit like a water slide. This was definitely not on this 2015 model. When I checked into the 2011 models, this cover was no longer there. So it looks like the 2010s had this unique cover. Thanks for sharing. If I had realized that, I would have mentioned. This will definitely help other viewers. Thanks for the great comments and feedback too, I very much appreciate it!

@@NexusAuto I guess "water slide" is as good a description as any :) It doesn't seem to have much purpose other than to obscure the actual air filter box. When Amazon delivers my new filter I'll report back on any other weirdness I encounter.

@@michaelmcnally1242 absolutely. Let me know if anything comes up for sure. I am curious if there is any additional quirks in the 2010 model. keep me posted.

@@NexusAuto OK so here's my experience. The air box is *mostly* the same as the one shown in your video, but in my experience there were a couple of important differences. First of course there's the puzzling plastic thing covering the whole airbox as discussed above. That's really easy to get off; there's a plastic pin on the driver's side and it basically just flops off. Then, on the airbox itself (the housing for the filter), the metal clips are in a different location. There are two clips on the driver's side, not front-and-back but both "facing" out on that side of the car. Then there are two other clips towards the middle of the engine compartment which I had to unclip in order to get the top of the filter housing raised up enough to get the old filter out and the new filter in. That is, releasing only the driver's side clips did not allow the air box top to lift up enough to make the filter swap; I had to do the two clips on the opposite end of the box. Other than those rather minor differences, it was all pretty much the same deal. The filter looks like it's the exact same part. Funny thing is that my old filter really wasn't that dirty; it was probably replaced at some point more recently than I remember.
